Larry Alan Mathews

January 6, 1956 - August 28, 2010

Larry A. Mathews, age 54, formerly of Beaver Dam, died as the result of a stroke on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at his home in Fond du Lac.

Family and friends will gather at the Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A memorial service will follow at the funeral home on Tuesday, beginning at 11:00 AM. Inurnment will be at St. Peter”s Cemetery in the Town of Beaver Dam, Dodge County, Wisconsin.

Larry was born on January 6, 1956 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, the son of the late Earl and Elsie (Whitrock) Mathews. After graduating from Beaver Dam High School in 1974, he began his career in the printing industry. On October 22, 1977, Larry married the love of his life, Pamela Ann Bennett at St. Peter”s Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. She preceded him in death on August 1, 1989. Larry enjoyed camping with his wife, he had a passion for music, and he always looked forward to the Olympic Games. He was an avid watcher of all things news worthy and he always had his finger on the pulse of what was going on around him.

Survivors include his four brothers and sisters, Lee (Helen) Mathews of Burlington, Joyce (Mike) Morse of Tucson, AZ, Dave (Jean) Mathews of Amery, and Marlene (Jon) Kleindl of Beaver Dam; his friend and roommate, Alan Ericksen and his dear friend, Jessica Kraus; close friends, Brian and Kari Thiry; other family and friends. Larry was preceded in death by his beloved wife Pamela and by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Larry Mathews” name to Greenview Foundation, 2773 Holyoke Lane, Ann Arbor, MI 48103.

To all of you, our deepest condolences. For a few years we all lived in the same house!!! Then there were the Sundays when Mom and Dad would do the "visit the relatives" on Sunday. I have pictures of all of us as kids at the house on University. So sorry to hear about Larry''s death. So unexpected. Always hard to understand why they are taken from us so young. Sorry we couldn''t make it to the funeral. Would of liked to see everyone. Even under the sad circumstances. Harry and Lois Pamenter.

My deepest condolences to Larry''s family and friends. Although I have not seen Larry in many yearsI always enjoyed his sense of humor and when ever we did see each other we always had a good time together. As life goes by many times we drift away from our old friends and thats kind of sad. A high school friend I''ll always remember,"Fats" was good guy and who liked to laugh and made me laugh!
