Romie- I can''t sleep thinking about you. How truly blessed I was to have you in my life, my children''s lives and for all of us at Zion to know you. Coffee hour will never be the same, infact, nothing will. I hold on to the knowledge that in Christ there are no good-by''s- only see you laters! "You made us feel special, you made us feel loved, having you in our life was a blessing from above." See you later Romie O- See you later! Love, Paula

A friend from La Crosse called me about the passing of Romie last week. Special and fond memories came flowing back about Romie and his lovely wife Dorothy and even lovier daughters now spread about the country. Romie and I used to compare notes over having three girls and ultimately how fortunate we were. I hope you are all well and feel free to contact me in Florida @ 352-408-3363 or the email as listed. God bless Romie, his family and great memories from my youth. Respectfully, David

My sympathies to you at Romie''s passing. Romie was my Girl Scout drill team coach in the early 1970''s in Greendale. Under his guidance our team won the championship 2 years in a row, the only two years he coached us. He always appeared to be gruff and expected perfection in everything we did. Underneath he was a kind man with a good heart who loved children and enjoyed teaching them. He taught our team to have "good carriage", to take pride in being a woman, and to be proud of who we were. At 16 I didn''t fully understand what he meant but listened because he said it.He made a difference. Remember the good times and the happy moments you shared. Celebrate his life, not his loss. Best regards, Candy Heidersheid Abrams, WI
As a Brother Elk, I will always remember Romie and the leadership he provided the Plugs marching unit. His love and devotion led us to new heights in parades and ceremonies.
Uncle Romie, How do we pay homage to a true gentleman? First of all, I''m crying as I type this. Uncle Romie was one of a kind, a true blessing. Uncle Romie cared more about ALL of his family, more than anyone I''ve ever known. From his immediate family, to his extended family, and right on down to his friends....Uncle Romie truly and deeply cared for the ones he loved. If we all could be just a little bit more like Uncle Romie, we would be better family and friends than we are right now. All we can do is try, right? My last visit with Uncle Romie was truly a special one. I will always remember the day, because it was my birthday. Uncle Romie came over to see our infant son. Our son had quite a struggle at first, but he was in Uncle Romie''s prayer circle right of way. Uncle Romie''s love for our little boy made that day even more special. Uncle Romie held our littlest one with that twinkle in his eyes. The whole time our oldest was saying "Uncle Romie watch this, Uncle Romie watch this." He was putting on quite an act, and Uncle Romie loved it. Our dog even got involved. He got right up next to Uncle Romie, and I finally realized why dog''s are man''s best friend. That was our last visit with Uncle Romie, March 30, 2007. Uncle Rome, as I called him, was a twinkle in everyone''s eyes and a warm feeling in everyone''s heart. With everlasting love, Bobby, Lena, Caleb, Colin and Barkley the dog. p.s. we''ll share our fondest Uncle Romie storie''s anytime. and an Ole n'' Lena joke, too.

Uncle Romie was a terrific role model for anyone around, he was kind and up beat. He was able to make friends with anyone. He always seemed to see life in a "glass is half full" kind of manner. Uncle Romie loved all of us and we loved him right back. It''s extremely sad to see him go. -Callie Romie had a knack of making everyone feel special and loved. He had a large heart with lots of room for love. My favorite memories of Romie are when he had the twinkle in his eye. Romie taught me to do the "Hustle" when I was a little girl. I was the hit of my 6th grade class. Romie was an outstanding brother to my mom. She always had a soft spot in her heart for her little brother. Romie always lived life to the fullest. He is an inspiration to us all. I will always love my Uncle Romie. -Patty We''ll love you always and forever, Patty and Callie
Uncle Romie was always a gentleman, always kind and loving. He will truely be missed by us all.
