Shirley J. Strumberger, 89, of Beaver Dam passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the Koepsell Funeral Home, N7199 N. Crystal Lake Rd., Beaver Dam. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 29th from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home, and also on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Cambria Cemetery in Cambria.
Shirley Jean was born the daughter of William and Louise (Block) Davies on February 3, 1923 in rural Cambria. She was married to Nick Joseph Strumberger on December 27, 1941 in Beaver Dam. Shirley was a graduate of Beaver Dam High School. She attended Columbia County Normal School, and completed her teaching education at UW-Oshkosh. Shirley taught special education in Pardeeville until her retirement in 1984. She was active with the Dodge County YMCA especially with the Silver Sneakers, and also enjoyed the Beaver Dam Senior Center playing bingo.
Shirley is survived by her children: Mary Louise (Robert) Nenno of Wautoma, Nicole (Gerald) Hupf of Beaver Dam, and Dorothy (Robert) Possin of Brandon; her brother, Gerald (Wanda) Davies of Kendallville, Ind.; her sister-in-law, Patricia Davies of Beaver Dam; her daughter-in-law, Janet Plankel-Minning of Beaver Dam; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Nick in 2003, her son, Robert in 1967, and her siblings, Marion, Lorraine, William and Elizabeth.
