Rebecca “Becky” J. Schmidt, 69, of Beaver Dam passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2015. Becky was born on January 2, 1946 to Harold and Anne (Little) Schepp in Beaver Dam. After meeting in junior high and sharing many adventures through their high school years, Becky wed Kenneth J. Schmidt on August 24, 1963 in Beaver Dam. They kissed goodnight and woke up together every day for 52 years. Becky added spice to everything in her life with a hearty dash of her signature flair and larger-than-life personality. After graduating from Beaver Dam High School and Moraine Park Technical College in Fond du Lac, where she received her training as a Licensed Practical Nurse, Becky shared her huge heart and gift of humor in her career as a geriatric nurse caring for older adults at several area senior living facilities. She was an active member of the Jaycettes for many years, and had a knack for recognizing what was special about the people in her life and showing it through the perfect note or gift. Her impeccable taste and eye for detail showed in Ken and Becky’s home, with doors always open to loved ones. Her family and her grandchildren were Becky’s pride and her passion. Many special friends considered her to be family as well. Becky loved camping with her family and enjoyed many special trips as they traveled to all 50 states, numerous state and national parks, and a special 50th anniversary road trip with Ken that extended all the way to Alaska. Favorite memories with friends included frequent dinner parties with gourmet menus, travel to tropical destinations, and over two decades of Indy 500 trips. Becky is survived by her devoted husband, Ken of Beaver Dam; her children: Lisa (Jonathan) Rowan and their daughters: Britta (Brandon Lee), Cobby and Brie of Beaver Dam; Andrew (Stephanie) Schmidt and their daughter Morgan of Farmington, MN; Tricia Schmidt and her son Jasper Gustafsson of Beaver Dam and Dr. Tyler Schmidt of New York City, NY; her mother Anne Schepp of Beaver Dam; special friends Karen and Bill Wendt of Beaver Dam and her brothers: Roger Schepp, Mark Schepp and Bart Schepp, her sister Barb Hedberg, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father Harold Schepp, her brother Ronnie Schepp, mother- and father-in-law Elmer and Bernice Schmidt and her brother-in-law Robert Schmidt. A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 21st from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home, N7199 N. Crystal Lake Road in Beaver Dam. A Celebration of Life for Becky will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home with John Leiting as Celebrant. Private family burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery at a later date.
