Ruth Grimm

Ruth Grimm passed away peacefully on Sunday October 29th at Joshua Springs Senior Living facility in Bullhead City, Arizona after a brief illness. Ruth Margaret (Wienke) Grimm was born on August 27, 1920 in Columbus, Wisconsin to William and Margaret Wienke. Ruth was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Columbus and graduated from Columbus High School where she received many letters playing the clarinet in the school band. Ruth then attended the Milwaukee School of Nursing where she graduated as a Registered Nurse. She applied her nursing knowledge while working at the A.O. Smith Corporation as well as a Public Health Nurse for the City of Milwaukee. Ruth was married to Gerhard Karl Grimm and subsequently lived in Aus-tria as a military wife from 1945-1947. Afterwards they lived in Milwaukee, Wauwatosa, and most recently Sun Prairie, Wisconsin since 1971. Ruth is survived by her son Gary and wife Carol (White Lake, Michigan) and son Steve and wife Kim (Laughlin, Nevada), four grandchildren (Angela Pearson, Jason Grimm, Joshua Grimm, and Jessica Grimm), two step grand daughters (Raquel and Monica Salazar), and four great grandchildren (Calvin, Henry, Talula, and Olivia), and her longtime friend and companion of 25 years Gale Chase! Ruth’s husband Gerhard preceded her in death in 1989. Ruth loved to travel overseas and take cruises, play bingo, fish any-where she could, and play various casino games. Ruth enjoyed having pets, especially her Chocolate Lab “Fritzie” and her cat “Kitty”. Ruth was an active member in: The American Legion Auxiliary, Friends of the Library – Sun Prairie, as a committee member of various functions at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Past State President of the Ladies Re-serve Officer’s Association of the United States Army as well as a member of the local Madison ROAL Club, and a Honorary Member of the Re-tired Officers Association of the United States Army. A grave side funeral will take place Monday November 13th at Sun Prairie Memory Garden Cemetery at 1:00 pm and will be followed by a luncheon at VFW Post 9362 in Sun Prairie. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation in Ruth’s name to American Legion Post 333 or VFW Post 9362, both of Sun Prairie.
