Audrey I. Metke

Audrey I. Metke, 83, of Mayville passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Meadowmere Assisted Living Community in West Allis.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville with Rev. Daniel Seehafer officiating. A visitation will also be held on Thursday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will take place at St. John Cemetery in Mayville.Audrey was born the daughter of Willmer and Petronella Siewert on April 23, 1932 in Milwaukee. She was a graduate of Milwaukee Lutheran High School and attended Concordia University in River Forest, IL. Audrey was married to Lyall J. Metke on October 24, 1954 in Milwaukee. Audrey was a former parochial grade school teacher, and later was employed as a branch manager for Fox Valley Savings and Loan. Audrey was a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville where she served as organist and choir director for 25 years. She belonged to the Mayville American Legion Auxiliary as a chorus member and director for 55 years; with the auxiliary being awarded a national championship. Music was truly Audrey’s passion. Audrey is survived by her children: Wendy Metke of Mayville, Timothy (Natalie) Metke of Nashville, TN, and Michelle Kuhn of Greendale, WI; her grandchildren: Zachery (Rebecca) Kuhn, Tony Metke, Tommy Metke, Andrea Metke, and Ashley Metke; her great-grandson, Jonah Kuhn; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lyall in 2014 and her brother, Karel.Memorials may be directed to St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville.
