Eva Elizabeth Kohler

Eva Elizabeth Kohler, 95, of Mayville, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family.A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mayville. Burial will take place at St. Mary Cemetery, Mayville.Eva was born the daughter of Nick and Kate (Schnaderbeck) Gergetz on November 23, 1919 in Mayville. She married Nick Kohler on May 3rd, 1941 in Mayville.In her early years, she was employed at the Mayville Shoe Factory. She then started a greenhouse business in Mayville with her husband in which they operated it for 25 years. Her favorite things in life were to garden, cook, and bake especially for her family.She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mayville and volunteered her time at St. Mary’s Catholic School for many years, which was a great passion of hers. She was involved with the hot lunch program from the start. She also enjoyed working as a baker for St. Mary’s School along with making pie crust, doing newspaper drives and participating in Christmas bazaars all for St. Mary’s Church and School. Her other joys in life were her and her husband’s Christmas tree farm in Waupaca and their cottage on the Chippewa Flowage in Hayward. There, she enjoyed fishing and all of what nature had to offer.Her happiness in life came from her closeness with her family especially her three grandchildren. Eva is survived by her husband of 73 years Nick Kohler, her daughter Sandi Luehring, and her three grandchildren Tommy, Sarah, and Michael Luehring. She also had a special bond with her two dogs Mollie and Piper. Eva is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Joseph Gergetz.
