Hans Robert Henkel, age 57, of Mayville, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.
A private family service will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at the Koepsell Funeral Home in Mayville with Chaplain Le Bane Hall officiating. A Celebration of Life gathering open to the public will be held at Atwell’s Pub in Mayville on Thursday, July 17, 2025, starting at 4:30 p.m.
Hans was born on May 31, 1968, to Robert and Marylin (nee Wittrock) Henkel in Beaver Dam. He was united in marriage to Marguerite Krieser on May 22, 1992, and was blessed with a son and later blessed with a stepdaughter.
Hans worked for many years at Metal Craft in Mayville in quality control. Hans was a man who deeply appreciated the outdoors and the simple pleasures of life. He loved to spend time camping, hunting, and fishing. Hans was an avid barbecuer who loved to smoke meat and cook. He had a passion for collecting antiques and was always on the lookout for a new treasure.
Above all, Hans’ grandsons were the most important part of his life. They brought him endless pride and joy, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
Hans is survived his wife Molly; son Kyle (Abby) Henkel; stepdaughter Melissa Reck; his two grandsons: Barrington and Brexton; his sister Chris (Clay) Smith; brother-in-law Darwin Levenhagen; and sister-in-law Chris Henkel. Hans is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Hans was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Jeff Henkel; and his sister Pam Levenhagen.
