Daniel W. Klossner

Daniel W. Klossner, 77, of Juneau passed away peacefully on Friday, February 6, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family.

Daniel was born on February 13, 1948 the son of Franklin C. and Florence (Kirchhoff) Klossner in Beaver Dam.  He attended Juneau Public Schools and graduated on May 25, 1966.

Drafted in August of 1969, Dan proudly served with the 2^nd 27^th Wolfhounds 25^th Infantry Division and was a combat medic.  Dan was wounded in April of 1970. Following his time in service Dan graduated from Madison Area Technical College, the University of Wisconsin Madison and the University of North Dakota Law School.  After law school, Dan and his partner Judge Joseph Sciascia started a law practice in downtown Juneau.  He served as Juneau City Attorney, Dodge County Asst. Family Court Commissioner and Dodge County Criminal Court Commissioner.  He was elected Dodge County Branch 1 Circuit Court Judge in April 1984.  He served in that capacity until February 12, 2008, when he retired.  Dan enjoyed being Santa Claus in the City of Juneau for 34 years.  He was a member of Dodge County Bar Association, State of Wisconsin Bar Association.  He was a member of the State Board of Bar Examiners.  He was a charter member of Juneau Jaycees, the Juneau American Legion, the Lowell VFW and the Juneau Lions Club, Order of the Purple Heart, and Disabled American Veterans.  He served as a member of the Beaver Dam Hospital Board and Church Health Services Board.  When going to college he lived in Johnson Creek where he was elected Village President.  In 2024, Dan was inducted into the Dodgeland High School Alumni Hall of Fame.

While he was proud of his many professional and community accomplishments his greatest joy was being Papa to his six beloved grandchildren, who were the light of his life.  Bigger than life, Dan embraced living fully-laughing loudly, gathering often, and finding joy in every opportunity to celebrate.

Dan married the love of his life Bonnie Buhr on August 4, 1973.  Together they had three children: John (Kelli) Klossner, Andrew (Elizabeth) Klossner and Katherine (Vincent) Wittig; his beloved six grandchildren: Daniel, Adeline, Maddox, Eden, Scarlett and Sidney.  He is further survived by his sister Kristine (Michael) Klaus; his brother Charles (Valerie) Klossner; his brothers and sisters-in-law: Barbara Klossner, Thomas (Jane) Buhr, Daniel (Nancy) Buhr, Russell Buhr, Peggy Harris, Gregory Buhr and his special friend Barb, Mary (Steven) Doering, Kennan (Kathy) Buhr and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and mother and father-in-law, Arlouine and LaVern Buhr; his brother David Klossner; brother-in-law Peter Harris, sister-in-law Gail Buhr and nephew Blake Buhr.

A memorial gathering will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Horicon on Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 10:00 until 11:45 a.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will begin promptly at Noon with Father Mark Brandl as Celebrant. Military Honors conducted by the Juneau American Legion Post #15 will follow the Mass. A Celebration of Life will follow the funeral at the Juneau Community Center from 1:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.  Internment will take place at a later date at Juneau City Cemetery in Juneau, Wisconsin.
