Bonnie Jean Mengel, age 80, of Horicon, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at the Christian Home in Waupun.
Funeral Services for Bonnie will take place on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church Browns Corner with Rev. Allen Behnke officiating. A visitation for Bonnie will be held at church on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. Following the service, interment will take place at St. John’s Cemetery Browns Corner.
Bonnie was born on June 11, 1945, to Harold and Marion (Dewitz) Franke. She graduated from Horicon High School in 1963.
Bonnie worked for 35 years at West Bend Company as a welder. She was an active and faithful member of St. John’s Browns Corner where she was on the Ladies Guild as well as a Sunday school teacher. Bonnie was a member of the Mayville Legion Auxiliary Post #69.
Bonnie is survived by her children: Deb Schwoch of Waupun, Mark (Missy) Shepard of Tennessee, and Patti Garcia of Horicon; grandchildren: Austin (Lacy Jericka) Schwoch, Amber (Chad Wisneski) Schwoch, Kara (Keith) Schmidt, Beau Shepard, Amanda Garcia, Aaron (Abby Balliette) Garcia, Alec Langkau; great-grandchildren: Cole, Willow, Jackson, Bennett, Owen, Kaiya, Kierstyn, Kaimera, Bohdi, Leela; her siblings: Ken Franke, Tom (Karen Feucht) Franke, Tammy (Steve) Blexrude, and Jim (Patty) Franke; her special friend John Vetta; and father of her children: Dan Shepard. Bonnie is further survived and deeply missed by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Diane; brothers Dan and John; granddaughter Melissa; and her great grandchild Baby Wisneski.
The family extends their sincerest gratitude to Pastor Behnke for all of his support.
