Gregory A. Kast, 71, of Randolph passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 12, 2026.
Gregory was born on July 6, 1955 in Beaver Dam to Kurth “Kurt” and Generose “Genny” (Geiger) Kast. He was a graduate of Randolph High School and earned a Marketing Certificate at MPTC in Fond du Lac. Greg was married to Carol Kirchberg on February 14, 1976 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lost Lake, WI. Greg was a lifelong farmer, first with his dad and later with his kids and grandkids. He worked in sales and was co-owner of Waupun Equipment until his retirement a couple years ago. Many customers and co-workers alike knew Greg as a friend.
Greg was an active member of Annunciation Catholic Parish in Fox Lake and previously of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lost Lake. He was known by many for hosting barn parties in the hay barn he had carefully decorated with his collectibles. He enjoyed directing the preparations as much as the party itself. He attended Monday morning coffee group and the antiquers club at local diners to keep up on all the news and tell “Greg” jokes. Greg took pride in keeping a beautiful yard and spending time “pasture” golfing on his meticulously mowed personal course with family and friends.
Family was what was most important in his life. He loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events all over the state, where he enthusiastically cheered on his grandkids and the whole team. Off season hobbies included snowmobiling, hunting and sledding parties with his family.
Greg loved a good project. From shop projects or a basic re-roof to a new build, and anything in between, if his family was working on it, he was there to advise and help. His most recently finished project was a flagpole and landscaped area that stands where the silos had been, a display of his patriotism, beliefs and love of farming.
Greg was always willing to help others but did it in a quiet way. He was always optimistic, positive, and truly believed “Man, we’re lucky.”
Greg is survived by his wife of 50 years Carol of Randolph; his children: Andrew (Michelle) Kast of Waupun, Gwendolyn (Jason) Hermes of Randolph, and Curtis (Jessica) Kast of Fox Lake; eight grandchildren: Brieanna, Tallen, Abigail, Maddox, James, Kayleigh, Otto, and Milton; his siblings: Lisa (Jerry) Warmka of Iron Ridge, Lucy (Kevin) Malter of Sauk City, Ken (Shelia) Kast of Waupun, and Keith Kast (Katie Maly) of Waupun; his brothers and sisters-in-law: Mary Ellen Kirchberg, Darlene Oelke, Laurie Kirchberg, Virgil (Pat) Kirchberg, Leroy (Chris) Kirchberg, Barb Leutterman, Marlene McCaffery, Sharon (Jim) Schumann, Donna (Mark) Hatzinger, and Mary Beth (Mike) Stange; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his infant daughter Rebecca; sister Linda Kast; father and mother-in-law: Carl and Evelyn Kirchberg; brothers and sister-in-law: Bill Kirchberg, Gordie Oelke, Gerald Kirchberg, Nancy Kirchberg, George Leutterman, and Dale McCaffery.
A visitation will be held at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Sunday, October 18, 2026 from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. A visitation will also be held on Monday, October 19, 2026 from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Annunciation Catholic Church in Fox Lake. Memorials will be donated to local charities that were important to Greg.
