Albert F. Janz, age 79, died Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at his home in Beaver Dam.

Friends and family may call at the Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Thursday, May 17, 2007 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 511 S. Spring Street in Beaver Dam, on Friday, May 18, 2007 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at church on Friday, beginning at 11:00 AM. Fr. John Schreiter. Burial will be at St. Peter”s Cemetery in the Town of Beaver Dam, Dodge County, Wisconsin. Military honors will be provided by the John E. Miller American Legion Post #146 in Beaver Dam.

Albert Franklin Janz was born on August 12, 1927 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, son of the late Joseph and Theresa (Planasch) Janz. On July 28, 1951, he was united in marriage with Lorraine (Jaehnke) Janz in Beaver Dam. Together they had nine children.

Albert attended and graduated from St. Peter”s Catholic School. In 1945, at the age of 18, he was drafted into the service. He spent 14 months in Okinawa and was discharged from the service in 1947. For 29 years Albert worked for the City of Beaver Dam Water Department, retiring in 1990. He was a life-long member of St. Peter”s Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the John E. Miller American Legion Post #146 in Beaver Dam. Albert enjoyed bowling and golfing for many years and he also loved spending time just talking with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Janz of Beaver Dam, five daughters, Cynthia (Dennis) Zaklan of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Christine (Bill) Sutton of Beaver Dam, Lori (Jon) Luck of Burnett, Marsha (Dave) Schultz of Beaver Dam, and Annette (Dean) Brezinsky of Waupun, four sons, Anthony Janz, Joseph (Sharon) Janz, Peter (Dorothy) Janz, and James (Debra) Janz, all of Beaver Dam, 19 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren, two sisters , Ann Gidlund of Milwaukee and, Nancy (Bob) Prusinski of Franklin, his brother-in-law Don Smith of Beaver Dam, his sister-in-law, Joan Janz of Appleton, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Albert was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Joseph Janz, Michael Janz, and Peter Janz, two sisters, Katherine Janz and Margaret Smith, two sisters-in-law, Agnes “Elsie” Janz and Adeline Janz, and his brother-in-law, Don Gidlund.

The family suggests that memorials be made in Albert Janz”s name to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 1131, Fairfax, VA 22038-1131 or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, P.O. Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202

To the Janz family, I was of the many at Beaver Damn Hospital that had the pleasure of knowing Albert. I am a phlebotomist and had to work with him many times to do his routine work.
