Alfred “Al” Meyer

Alfred H. “Al” Meyer, 91, of Mayville passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Hope Senior Living in Lomira.Alfred was born the son of Paul and Mary (Backhaus) Meyer on August 14, 1927. He was raised in Mayville and graduated from Mayville High School in 1945. Al was employed with Lange’s Meat Market in Mayville and also with Paulus Supermarket in Cedarburg. He later obtained his broker’s license and went into business with Chuck Gill of Horicon as Meyer and Gill Real Estate for many years, and later as Al Meyer Realty in Mayville. Al was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Mayville. He was a longtime member of the Mayville Lions Club as well as the Mayville Golf Club. Al is survived by his two brothers: Charles of Hayward and Ed of Mayville; and is further survived by his niece and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Arthur; and his sister, Mary Alice. A visitation will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mayville on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at the church with Fr. Tom Biersack presiding. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Mayville.
