Arlitt H. Del Ponte

September 11, 1939 - December 28, 2025

Arlitt Helen Del Ponte, age 86, of Mayville, passed away surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Northview Heights in Juneau.

A private memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mayville with Rev. Fr. Zachary Galante presiding.

Arlitt was born on September 11, 1939, to Elinor (Serwe) and later adopted by Harvey Wegener. After Harvey passed away when Arlitt was 12 years old, her mother went on to marry James Welak. She graduated from Mayville High School. On April 28, 1962, Arlitt married the love of her life, Wayne Del Ponte. Together they made their home in Mayville and raised their three daughters.

Arlitt was a successful businesswoman selling real estate in Mayville and the surrounding areas. She was an active member in her community and was a member of the Mayville Chamber of Commerce as well as the Fireman’s Auxiliary.

Arlitt and Wayne enjoyed going fishing, especially on Lake Michigan. She enjoyed playing cards, but above all loved her family and the time they spent together making memories.

Arlitt is survived by her daughters: Kim Del Ponte, Christine (Greg) Neu, and Jackie (Dev) Beal; her loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings: Kate (Keith) Stieve and Dennis (Kim) Welak; Siblings-in-law: Patti Welak, Denis (Sue) Del Ponte, Dale (Jan) Del Ponte, Carol (Steve) Krueger, Lee (Carol) Del Ponte, Sally Baier, and Alan Del Ponte. Arlitt is further survived and fondly remembered by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Arlitt was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband Wayne in 2022; her brother Tim Welak; and her brother-in-law Tim Del Ponte.

Arlitt’s family extends their gratitude to Northview Heights for the compassionate care provided to her.

I was sorry to learn of Arlitt’s passing. My condolences to her daughters and other family. I was fortunate to work for Arlitt in her real estate business for a few years in the early 1990’s. It was a special treat for my husband and me to go fishing with Arlitt and Wayne on Lake Michigan once. I hope that her death was a peaceful one and that you have good memories to sustain you.
