The Lord in his infinite and gracious wisdom called from this life to the glories of Heaven the soul of Barbara Ann Kannenberg on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the age of 88 years old.
A Funeral Service for Barbara will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Huilsburg with Rev. Michael Gorte officiating. A visitation for Barbara will take place at church on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. Internment will follow the service at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Cemetery in Huilsburg.
Barbara Ann (Zarling) Kannenberg was born on July 22, 1937, to Henry and Elizabeth (Milbrath) Zarling at their home in Milwaukee, WI. She was baptized on August 22, 1937, at Siloah Ev. Lutheran Church, where she was also confirmed on April 23, 1950, by her uncle, Pastor Paul J. Burkholz. Her confirmation verse is John 16:23, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, He will give it you.” (KJV)
Barbara married Delmer Frank Kannenberg of Jackson, WI, on June 21, 1958, at David’s Star Ev. Lutheran Church in the town of Jackson, WI. Pastor Paul J. Gieschen officiated.
The Lord blessed their marriage with four daughters, Sharon (William) Moldenhauer, Lori (Gregory) Dorn, Diane (John) Calkins, and Linda (David) Seibel. Barbara is a graduate of West Bend High School and the Milwaukee Business Institute. She worked for Mercury Marine in Cedarburg; West Bend Mutual Insurance in West Bend; and Mayer Insurance in Jackson. She also held other part-time jobs in addition to household and family responsibilities. Barbara was also active as a member of Trinity Lutheran Church; Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society; and other activities. She loved music and was a member of all church choirs where she was a member from age 10 until 70. She accompanied her husband as a faithful spouse and helper in his ministry in Hartford, WI, Denver, CO, Cameroon, Africa, and Syracuse, NY, and into retirement in Hartford.
Mourning Barbara’s death with her children are her ten grandchildren, Jeffrey (Koa) Moldenhauer, Lisa (John) LeBlanc, Kristine Moldenhauer, Daniel (Charisse) Moldenhauer, Joshua (Danielle) Calkins, Aaron (Aimee) Calkins, Jordan Calkins, Elizabeth (Thomas) Galecki, Erika Pedersen and JonAlden (Kaitlyn) Pedersen; 16 great grandchildren, Thaddeus and Simon Moldenhauer; Benjamin, Sara Ann, Abigail, and Marah LeBlanc; Sonya and Marty Moldenhauer; Maison, Aria, Olivia and Cecilia Calkins; Archer and Ada Calkins; Ezekiel Puffer and Oliver Pedersen; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Barbara is preceded in death by her husband Delmer, parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herman and Linda Kannenberg, son-in-law Richard Pedersen, sister and brother-in-law Audrey and Ladislaus Matchey, brother and sister-in-law Gerald and Audrey Zarling, brother-in-law Wilmer and his wife Janet Kannenberg and sister-in-law Marlene and her husband William Gauger.
