Carl J. Matuszeski, 63, of Burnett passed away at his home with his wife by his side on Monday, November 3, 2025 after a hard fight with cancer.
Carl was born on April 6, 1962 in Waupun to Carlan and Nancy (Schouten) Matuszeski. He was a 1980 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. Carl was married to Beverly Neitzel on May 3, 1986 at Zion Lutheran Church in Burnett. Carl had a very extensive career in the printing industry in Beaver Dam. Afterwards, he was employed with NHI in Horicon and most recently with Karavan Trailers in Fox Lake who he felt were like his family.
Carl had a love of hunting and fishing. He won the 1989 Hayward Walleye Tournament with his partner Bill Toutant. Carl enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips to South Dakota, Iowa, Michigan, Canada, and throughout Wisconsin. He was an avid racing fan, especially Sprint and Open Wheel Cars. Carl helped with pit crews for Brian Walters, Billy Warren, Darwin Banes, and Blake Nimee. Carl was fortunate this past summer to be able to attend an Indy Car race at the Milwaukee Mile and take a fishing charter. He was a member of the Wisconsin Amateur Field Trial Club of Horicon where he served as board member for many years and helped maintain its grounds. He especially loved training labs for field trials and hunt tests.
Carl is survived by his wife and best friend Bev of Burnett; brothers: Michael (Christy) Matuszeski of Sycamore, IL and Thomas (Elizabeth) Matuszeski of Red Granite; uncle Norbert (Lois) Matuszeski of Beaver Dam; aunts: Luci Loney of TX, Norma Schouten of OH, and Kathy Schouten of Waupaca; mother-in-law Kathryn Neitzel; brothers-in-law Harold (Linda) Neitzel and John (Rebecca) Neitzel; sister-in-law Donna (Richard) Rasmussen; many cousins, nieces, nephews; other relatives, friends, and many hunting and fishing buddies, and his loyal companions Buster, Whiskey, and Joey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunt, uncles, and a cousin.
A visitation will be held at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 p.m. Interment will take place at Highland Memory Gardens, township of Trenton, WI. A celebration of life gathering will follow at Bayside Supper Club in Beaver Dam from 2:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Carl’s family encourages family and friends to wear Packer, racing, or hunting apparel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to his family.
