Nanette, Gene and Kyle,

We were so heart broken to hear about Colin's passing. Our condolences to your entire family of relatives and friends. Colin was an outstanding individual that all the other kids looked up to. He represented the best of what it is to be a Mayville Cardinal. His athletic achievements will be remembered for a very long in the Mayville community. And to you, we will never forget our adventure crossing the United States racing in RAAM in 2008. You two were the best crew members ever. Paula and Jim

The memories of Mayville’s community, parents, administration, fellow teachers, coaches, great friendships, and especially my students & players will never be forgotten. Linda and I can never thank you enough. This feeling, however, could never have been realized though without the Gassner Family. They embraced me as a member of their family. Helped me establish my career and more importantly my family with Linda. I will never be able to thank them enough. Geno and Nannette are like another incredible big brother and sister to the ones i already had.
Kyle and Colin are like my younger brothers I never had. This has never left my heart or soul. Linda and I are truly praying for Geno, Nannette, and Kyle. There are no words how bad i will miss my little brother, but I do know he is not that far away. When I see someone make an incredible play on the court or field and do it with such humbleness, I know he will be nearby.

Absolute condolences to Gene, Nanette and family.

I didn't know Colin personally but Gene was my basketball coach in JV and Colin was 2 years ahead of me in school. I have so many fond memories watching Colin light up and lead on both the football field and basketball courts at Mayville High. The '94 football team he quarterbacked is legendary. LEGENDARY. In basketball, I still have vivid memories of Colin draining 3's and running back down the court in jubilation in front of packed gyms. In my opinion, Colin was the best athlete ever at Mayville High.

Rest in heavenly peace, good sir. And thank you for the memories.

Words can’t explain how heart broken we are to hear of your passing. You came into our lives when we needed him the most, you loved and cared for us and our mother more than anyone ever has. You were such a light in our home filling it with lots of laughter and brightness. You raised us like we were his own kids and you will forever be the best father figure in our lives. We are forever grateful to have had such a man look out for us and help guide us on our journeys to adulthood and now he gets to watch over and protect us as we grow even more.
Love you always,
Briana, Kayla, Aysha, Savanna,& Devin

Had the pleasure of caddying with Colin at Whistling Straits in 2003. I was one of a group of Irish students in WI for the season. He immediately made us welcome and helped us on and off the course. I have many happy memories from the Straits and the time off the course with Colin is one of them.
To his family and friends you are in my thoughts at this hard time.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Collin filled so many people and young kids with Pride to be an Eagle and a Mayville Cardinal. Collin was looked up too an admired by all who knew him. He was an extraordinary role model for my boys on every level, His leadership, his extraordinary athletic abilities , his academic accomplishments, church involvement my boys would say…“There’s Colin Gassner” a true home town Hero. He touched many young hearts and help kids choose the right paths, as I am sure all his friends would agree. I am proud ,very proud,of Colin. He will be greatly missed.
