Donald Carl “Don” Luck passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at the age of 90.
Donald was born January 19, 1935 at Beaver Dam Lutheran Hospital to Carl and Anna (Mueller) Luck. He was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in North Burnett. On April 10, 1949, Don was confirmed at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. He graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1953. Don was united in marriage to Marilyn “Mary” Rackemann at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Watertown on August 29, 1959. Don was a fourth-generation dairy farmer on the farm his great grandfather started in 1871. He also sold new and used material handling equipment for 25 years.
Don served on the Dodge County F.S.A. Committee where he retired as chairman. He also served on the Town of Burnett Board and the Planning and Zoning Committee which he truly enjoyed.
Don farmed with his son and family until retirement in 1996 when he and Mary moved to their lake home in Westfield, WI where they enjoyed fishing and traveling.
Don is survived by his wife of 65 years Mary; two children: Jonathan (Lori) Luck of Burnett and Susan (Jonathan) Schroeder of Sadorus, IL; four grandchildren: Samantha Luck of Beaver Dam, Adam (Henriet) Luck of Burnett, Amanda Buchholz of Waupun, and Noah Schroeder of Sadorus, IL; two great grandchildren: Avery and Aleah Buchholz of Waupun; as well as other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will be held at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 p.m. Rev. Peter Zietlow will officiate. Interment will take place at North Burnett Cemetery, Burnett, WI.
Don’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Pastor Zietlow of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Montello, the entire staff of the Christian Home-Homestead in Waupun, and the SSM Health Hospice staff for all their care and support.
Memorials may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Montello or to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Westfield.
