Donald Emil Kehl was born on December 3, 1946 to Clarence and Sylva (Frank) Kehl. He became God’s child through baptism and remained so throughout his life of 76 years. He gained eternal life on February 3, 2023.
Donald is survived by his three siblings, Marlene Pleuss (Alan) of Manitowoc, Yvonne Kehl (Michael Chambers) of Kimberly, and Martin Kehl (Gloria Cain) of Alto; nieces and nephews, Autumn Hill (Ryan Anderson), Shawn Kehl, Katharine Pleuss and Kaleb Pleuss (Juli Nevers); great nephew and great niece, William and Adayla Pleuss.
He was a life long resident of Columbus. He grew up on the Kehl Turkey Farm and attended Zion Lutheran School and Columbus High School, class of 1965, and attended UW Platteville. Donald was inducted into the Army on March 27, 1967 and served for three years in Panama and Germany. He farmed with his father and alone for 14 years. He went back to school and in his remaining working years, he was an over-the-road truck driver.
Thank you to all his friends and acquaintances in the Columbus community and at Santa Maria Apartments who helped and befriended him in so many ways. He will be sadly missed by his family, but we are confident, as he was, in his Savior Jesus, whom he loved so much.
The family will be holding a gathering at Connection Church, 342 North Lewis Street in Columbus on Saturday, February 18, 2023 from 1:00 until 3:00, followed by a memorial service and light refreshments after the service.
A memorial fund has been established.
