Everytime Sierra see's the picture on the family wall she says that's uncle Donny.
We say, "he sure is and a very special guy".

We miss you.

I just learned of Don's passing today, and I'm heartbroken. Don was one of the most genuine, nice, honest and easy going people I've met in my lifetime. I didn't know Don well, mainly from spending time together at various Emergency Management training events, but I feel like I've lost a close friend. Sending prayers and condolences to Don's family.

My most sincere condolences to Don's family and loved ones. I had the great pleasure of knowing Don through work. He was, as has been noted, always kind and generous. What a wonderful individual. It was a pleasure and honor to have known him. He was among us for such a short time, but what a powerful impact and impression he left behind. My thoughts and prayers to out to his family.

Dear Kelly and family, You don't even know me but I wanted to reach out and offer my deepest sympathy for the loss of Donny, your loved one. I worked for the Menasha Health Department and Donny was an important State contact person answering my endless questions regarding emergency preparedness. Donny was kind, caring, and I will never forget his helpfulness and friendly personality. May God bless and comfort your family during this difficult time. Cherish your memories of Donny and remember Donny is in the arms of Almighty God. We will all meet again and oh...what a great day that will be.

Dear Kelly and Hannah, I am so very sorry. There is not much that one can say to ease the shock and sadness of this sudden loss. Donny was such a good work friend to me at DHFS and we continued our relationship through the Team Lead /Facilitator training when I went to DOA. And now as a Beaver Dam resident, I was so proud he was representing our community. You know what a kind, fun, and intelligent person he was. I am truly now regretting not having been more social with you all recently, but we always think there is time. But more importantly than all of this, is that he was my juggle buddy. Our hanging out and throwing things around, learning new tricks, and just basically stepping out of the routine for a short while each week was a gift. Thank you Donny!!!!! Again, I am so sorry. Kelly, Hannah, and family, as I write this I still can't believe Donny is gone. Our graduate group at NPS is very close and Don was absolutely an inspiration to us all. Manny, Don, and I became very close friends early on in the NPS program, texting back and forth in between IR periods, offering words of encouragement to one another during the thesis process, cheering each other on for personal and professional wins, and always reminding one another to make the most of the graduate experience. When I was having some difficulties at work early on in the graduate program, I sat down with Don and chatted with him about the challenges I was facing. He was like a sponge, soaking up all I was telling him, processing it, offering words of encouragement and understanding in return. Don was genuinely concerned about his classmates on an individual level. It was easy to tell he wasn't simply going through the motions. I will miss very much our back and forth text messages, his comedic trash talking during fantasy football season, his concern for my personal and professional successes, and his great advice. In the short time I knew him, Don became a colleague and a dear friend. I was so looking forward to seeing him at our first reunion. He will always be a part of the NPS 1511 family. Thank you for sharing him with all of us and know that we mourn with you. God Bless you and your family.

Dear Kelly, Hannah and Donny's mother and siblings - I am so deeply saddened to learn of Donny's passing. I knew him when I was working at DHS. He was so thoughtful, compassionate - and funny. He could turn a bad day hilarious. I especially appreciated that he knew sign language to communicate with me and staff at DHS. He impressed me with his enormous love for his family. He will be deeply missed, and I hope his love for you all will sustain you in the days ahead, and in your hearts forever. May he rest in peace.

I am one of Don's classmates from Naval Postgraduate School and consider him one of the kindest, most amazing friends I've ever had the pleasure to know. Don and I made a pact to keep each other motivated while writing our thesis, and I couldn't help but draw inspiration from his enthusiasm and drive. Even after we graduated, Don sent messages to me every few weeks to check on how my family and I were doing (we moved to China a few months ago and I think he was worried about us!).

Without question, the single most important thing in Don's life was his family. We spent a lot of time together -- talking, studying, school projects, playing golf -- and he never failed to gush over his amazing wife and daughter. You guys were the absolute world to him. Hannah, he couldn't stop talking about how proud of you he was and how excited he was to see the next chapters unfold in your life.

Don didn't make friends, he made family. I lost a brother this week and I miss him so much. Kelly and Hannah, I know you'll survive this tragedy but I can't imagine how you're feeling right now. All my love and prayers for you both. Shawn

Kelly and Hannah, I'm so sorry for your loss. I worked with Donny for several years and everyone enjoyed being around him and he was one of the funniest guys I've ever met.

Again, I'm very sorry for your loss but know he brought smiles, laughter and made the lives of those around him better.

I am so sorry to hear this news. My prayer is that there will be peace and comfort amidst the pain and the sorrow for all who loved Don. He will be missed.

To the family of Donnie - I am sincerely sorry to learn of his untimely death. Donnie and I played ball together for a few years and kept in touch some over the last few years. A good man he was - I enjoyed his company. He truly loved his family as he would talk about the both of you (Kelly) and his daughter (Hannah).

To the family I offer my deepest sympathy. I served with Don for 11 wonderful years on the Council and always considered him one of my closest colleagues and friends. I sat next to Don for seven years and served with him on the Administrative committee and he was a true leader in that responsibility. Most likely I always respected his ability to deal with difficult issues calmly and professionally and with respect for all opinions. I will deeply miss my friend. His loss is a loss for Beaver Dam.

It was through Donnie's urging and guidance that I became a council member and for that I will forever be grateful. Hannah, Kelly, and family in Washington and Michigan: I cannot express my sorrow at the loss of your beloved Donny. He was so proud of Hannah, and always had a story about one family member or the other.
