Emili Julieta Cruz came joyfully into this world on September 12, 2000. Emili packed a lot of living into the too short of time she was given. Her old soul became untethered and flew, finally pain free, on February 21, 2017. She fought valiantly against a myriad of chronic illnesses for a long time, before ultimately succumbing to HLH. Her life was not defined by pain and illness. She will be remembered most for and be defined by strength, creativity and above all else, love.Emili was the loving daughter of Lauren Hall and Miguel Cruz. She was the loving sister to Gael and Diego. She was the great-granddaughter of James Gehl. She was the granddaughter of Michele and David Polster, Hilda Hernandez and Miguel Cruz(Sr.).Emili is further survived by her Auntie Megan Noel (Jean Junior) and Uncle Clay Hall(Lisa), along with her cousins Colin, Liam, and Rion. She is also survived by her great aunt Mary Beth Gehl (Shinji Takahashi) and her dear friend and cousin Nanna Takahashi, who was like a sister to her. In addition, Emili will be greatly missed by a host of family and friends, both here and in Mexico, including her Uncle Ricky Hall and his parents, Richard and Pam Hall. She was preceded in death by her two great grandmothers, Mercedes Gehl and Guadalupe Gomez.Emili left behind a legacy of love. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. She battled bravely against pain and chronic illness, while unflinchingly refusing to let it define or stop her. The more her physical body failed, the more her determination and perseverance of spirit soared.Emili enjoyed a lot in her brief time here. She especially loved crafting, swimming, and singing. She held a special place in her heart for animals and loved going to the zoo. Emili was a talented and very capable artist, and took great pride in being and expressing her creativity. She refused to let her physical limitations hinder her creativity and academic achievements, excelling at both. She possessed both an intelligence and empathy that belied her years. More than anything, Emili loved and was loved by her family. Following Emili’s specific wishes, a fiesta, a celebration of her life, will be held on Sunday, February 26 at the Hustisford Community Hall at 3 PM. 316 E. Tweedy St., Hustisford, WI 53034. In keeping with a cultural tradition, Emili wanted food to be shared and enjoyed. Please bring your favorite dish to pass. A brief eulogy will be presented at 4 pm. Fireworks at dark. Emili cargó con una misión enorme en el corto tiempo de vida que se le dio. Su alma sabia se libero y voló, finalmente sin dolor, el 21 de febrero del 2017. Es precedida en muerte por sus dos bisabuelas, Mercedes Gehl y Guadalupe Gómez. Emili nos dejó un legado de amor. Fue una inspiración para todos los que conocía. Tenía un gusto especial por las manualidades, la natación y el canto. Siempre tuvo un lugar especial en su corazón para los animales y le encantaba ir al zoológico. Emili era una artista muy talentosa y capacitada, y se enorgullecía grandemente de serlo y de expresar su creatividad. Se rehusó a permitir que sus discapacidades obstaculizarán su creatividad y logros académicos, sobresaliendo en ambos. Poseía una inteligencia y empatía que desmentían sus años. Más que nada, Emili amó y fue amada por su familia.Siguiendo especialmente los deseos de Emili, una fiesta, una celebración de su vida, se celebrará el domingo 26 de febrero en el salón comunitario de Hustisford (Hustisford Community Hall) a las 3 PM. 316 E. Tweedy St., Hustisford, WI 53034. Y siguiendo la tradición cultural, Emili pidió que se compartiera comida y se divirtieran, por favor traiga su platillo favorito para compartir. Un breve elogio será presentado a las 4:00 PM. Habrá juegos pirotécnicos cuando obscurezca. En lugar de flores las donaciones a la familia serán agradecidas.

Emili will truly be missed by many. Even though we didn't get to spend that much time with her she was such a blessing. She inspired me to keep fighting and be strong through it all till the end. Because HOPE: hold on pain ends. We had some many similarities such as both were fighting the same stuff and both love the zoo and fluffy things. The day i said hi i never thought it would be the last hi i would ever say. This has been incredibly hard on lots of this. She will be always be in my thoughts and prayers. I know she is enjoying the time of her life the times she got to never do, like run jump and hang out friends run around the yard without pain and tubes. These conditions have taken so many of us zebras. So im fighting for a cure as hard as i can knowing it may save so many others life.But, i know i fighting for Emili hope you are too because #ifightforemili. I wish this was all a dream.

Was a wonderful celebration of life. So many people, so many smiles. Lauren is definitely an amazing, strong and loving Mom. It was my honor to be Emili's nurse because Emili was also amazing, strong, and loving. I will always remember you.

I couldn't come today after all but know, everyone was in my heart today. Today you celebrated the life of a truly incredible young girl who had such courage and strength. I'm so very sorry for your loss. You are all in my prayers. Love and hugs.

Lauren, I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of your daughter. I can't even begin to imagine what you are going through. She was a beautiful girl and I hope you can keep close to your heart all of the good memories you were able to make with her during her far too short time here on this earth. So very sorry for your loss-I don't know what to say. Can't imagine watching a beautiful young woman as Emili, suffer in pain and agony as she awaits for the Lord to take her home. She is in heaven, no more suffering and tears. I have never met her but our hearts go out to her family and friends. We've been praying for her and the family for such a long time-rejoice and be glad that she is now with Jesus. Blessings
