Eugene A. Green

Eugene A. Green, 85, of Beaver Dam and formerly of Fox Lake passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Dycora Transitional Living Center in Beaver Dam. Eugene was born the son of Alexander V. and Esther A. (Rydberg) Green on August 20, 1932 in River Falls, WI. He was a 1950 graduate of River Falls High School. He received his B.A. in Secondary Education in 1965 from WI State University in River Falls. In 1972, he received his Master of Divinity, then later ordained to the work of the Gospel Ministry, and in 1997 earned his Doctor of Ministry from Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Minneapolis. Gene served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 until 1961 as Airman First Class, medical/surgical technician. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Gene pastored several churches in Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin over the years. Upon retirement from full-time ministry, he served as the Executive Director of Baptists for Life of Wisconsin from 2001 – 2012, traveling throughout the state, speaking in churches and schools, and advocating for the rights of the Unborn. Gene was a member of Harmony Baptist Church in Beaver Dam. He was a member of the Fox Lake American Legion Post #521. Gene enjoyed fishing and golf, lunch with his Queen, and getting together with his children and grandchildren. He was passionate about sharing the Good News of the Gospel at every opportunity and ended his good-byes with the encouragement to “walk with God one more day.” Gene is survived by his children: Laurie (Corey) Pfaffe of Watertown, Susan (Greg) Pfaffe of Anchorage, AK, Scott (Debbie) Green of Anchorage, AK, Patricia (Don) Hunter of Appleton, and Tom (Robyn) Green of Eagle River, AK; his sister, Marie (Jim) Leonard of Eau Claire; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Arline in 2017; one brother; and two sisters. A visitation will be held at Harmony Baptist Church in Beaver Dam on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. Rev. Peter Ostrander will officiate. Interment will take place at Highland Memory Gardens, township of Trenton with military honors provided by the Fox Lake American Legion Post #521. Memorials may be directed to Baptists for Life of Wisconsin or to Harmony Baptist Church in Beaver Dam.
