Evelyn R. George

Evelyn R. George , age 96 of Shoreview, MN, formerly of Randolph, WI, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2015 at Shoreview Senior Living in Shoreview, MN. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 4 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. John Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam, WI with Rev. Janice Diefenthaler and Rev. David George officiating. A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 4, from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will take place at Randolph Cemetery in Randolph. Evelyn was born the daughter of Melvin and Ella (Lokken) Nettum on March 22, 1919 in Christiana Township, WI. She was united in marriage to Robert K. George on April 26, 1941 in Utica, WI. She worked as a bookkeeper and also taught Ceramics and China Painting. She wintered in Yuma, Arizona from the late 1980’s to 2013 in the Sun Vista RV Resort. While there, she sang in the church choir, attended classes in Rosemaling (Norwegian painting), oil painting and porcelain doll painting. Evelyn was a gifted and prolific artist, well known in both her Wisconsin and Arizona communities. In Randolph, she taught ceramics in the 70’s and 80’s and china painting in the ’90’s through 2011, when she moved to Shoreview to live with daughter, Nancy and husband, Don. Evelyn and Bob took up golf upon his retirement and she loved the game and continued to play to the age of 92. Evelyn was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. She was also a member of Capitol Artists China Painters and the Wisconsin State Grange. She is survived by her children: Lynn R. George of Portrero, California, Larry A. George of Rio Linda, California, and Nancy (Don) Muellner of Vadnais Heights, Minnesota; her 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert in 1991 and her sisters Marion Bjugstad and Verna Evenson.
