Florence M. Schutte, age 93, of Beaver Dam, died Monday, June 26, 2006 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.
Visitation for Florence will be at the Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Thursday, June 29, 2006 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM. On Friday, June 30, 2006, there will be a visitation at the funeral home from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. At 10;30 AM, there will be a closing service followed by a procession to St. Katharine Drexel Church at 511 South Spring Street in Beaver Dam. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM at church. Private burial services will be held at St. Patrick”s Cemetery.
The former Florence Mary Stegner was born on July 28, 1912 in the Town of Oak Grove, Dodge County, Wisconsin to the late Edward and Katherine (Sturm) Stegner. On May 9, 1933, Florence was united in marriage with Gilbert H. Schutte in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. She was a charter member of the Beaver Dam Community Hospital, Inc and was a member of the Beaver Dam Hospital Auxiliary for over 40 years. Florence also volunteered for the American Red Cross Blood Bank for many years. Florence received two awards of which she was very proud. In 1987, Citizen Publishing Company recognized her as the Volunteer of the Year. In 1989, she was named Sr. Citizen of the Year in recognition for her service to the hospital, the blood bank and to the church. She was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish and had previously been active in the Catholic Women of St. Patrick”s and the Christian Mother”s.
Survivors include three sons, Lloyd (Phyllis) Schutte of Brookfield, Royce (Virginia) Schutte of Monticello, Indiana and Ralph (Luella) Schutte of Dodgeville; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; two brothers, Edward (Dorothy) Stegner of Beaver Dam and Harvey (Jean) Stegner of Lydia, South Carolina; a sister, Mildred (Jose) Pesante of Portalles, New Mexico; a brother-in-law, Marv Schutte of Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Florence was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Harold Stegner; a sister, Margaret Kelly; two step brothers, Alvin Stegner and Leonard Stegner; a brother-in-law, Raymond Kelly; and three sisters-in-law, Marion Stegner, Alice Schutte, and Agnes Stegner.
The family suggests that memorials be made in Florence M. Schutte”s name to the Beaver Dam Public Library or to the American Diabetes Association.
