Frank Hayden

After a more than 15 year journey with Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD), the Lord has called Frank home. Services for Frank will be held at Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, WI with visitation on Friday, November 30th from 4-7 pm and Saturday from 10-10:50. Funeral following at 11:00 am, with Rev. Daniel Seehafer officiating. Frankie Dean Hayden, 67, passed away on November 25, 2018, surrounded by his family at Remembrance Home in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. Frank was born in Des Moines, Iowa on August 3, 1951, to parents, Clarence and Norma (Urdahl) Hayden. After his graduation from Moline Senior High School, Frank began working at John Deere Plow & Planter Works where he met his wife Jean. They were married on September 7, 1974, in Moline, Illinois and have two children, Tim and Becky. Frank was a very dedicated, loving and selfless father and husband. He enjoyed being a hands-on Dad: he volunteered at the school library, helped as a room-father, chaperoned many field trips, and directed the school’s mini-theater production. After he and his family relocated to Horicon in 1986, Frank continued his volunteer work by making many games for the first carnival at Van Brunt Elementary School and also assisted in building the new school playground. He received a CNC Lathe operator certification from MPTC and began working at Mercury Marine in Hartford until it closed in 1997. Frank then went on to work at Custom Products in Oconomowoc before returning to John Deere in Horicon, where he worked until his diagnosis in November 2004. Frank was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Horicon, WI. He enjoyed watching car racing, going to movies and shopping, but most of all he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Frank was a dog lover and music lover. He will always be remembered for his one of a kind laugh. Frank is survived by his loving wife of 44 years and best friend, Jean; son, Timothy (Kendra) of Juneau; daughter, Rebecca of Beaver Dam; grandsons, Alexander and Seth of Juneau. He is further survived by his sister, Tracy Scott of Milan, Illinois, brother-in-law, Steve McDonnell of Moline, Illinois; sisters-in-law, Pamela Alvarez of Chico, California and Debby McDonnell of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, as well as nieces, nephews and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence; mother, Norma Buchanan; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Herbert and Joan McDonnell, and his dear uncle and aunt, Roy and Jenny Radke. This disease robbed Frank of his ability to walk, speak, laugh and cry, but it did not take away his ability to move people with his story. His 15 year journey has not been without purpose. He has touched so many lives and helped train many care providers that will help future people on this journey. As difficult as this disease was on Frank and his family, it would have been unbearable without faith in God and the support of many individuals. Frank’s family would like to thank family, friends, and coworkers for their loving support. They also want to thank and recognize the many organizations and facilities that gave them support and education whenever they needed it: Alzheimer’s Association of Southeast Wisconsin, Dementia Concerns Coalition of Dodge County (DCC), Various dementia support groups, ADRC of Dodge County, Care Wisconsin, Trosten Haus of Green Valley Enterprises, St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Horicon, and Hillside Hospice; please reach out to these organizations for education and support if you find yourself or a loved one in need of assistance. To the Remembrance Home family, Kathy Bates and the entire staff, the Hayden family will be forever grateful for the loving and respectful care you provided to Frank these past 8 1/2 years.
