Frank V. Janczak

May 22, 1920 - January 6, 2007

On January 6, 2007, at the age of 86, Frank S. Janczak joined the choir of angels in Heaven and is now with our little angel, Cindy.

Friends and family may call at St. Katharine Drexel Church, 127 W. Maple Avenue, in Beaver Dam on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at church on Wednesday, beginning at 12:00 Noon. Burial will follow at St. Michael”s Cemetery in the Town of Beaver Dam, Dodge County, Wisconsin.

Frank Stanley Janczak was born on May 22, 1920 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to the late Albert and Mary (Witkiewicz) Janczak. He graduated from Beaver Dam High School with the class of 1939. On October 20, 1951, Frank was united in marriage with Shirley Wienke in Beaver Dam. He graduated from the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Oklahoma as a Commercial Flight Instructor. He was designated as a Commercial Pilot Flight Examiner with the US Department Commerce, Department of Civil Aeronautics Administration. Frank proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He was an Officer Senior Pilot and Flight Instructor and served in Africa, India, France and Italy. Following his military service, Frank was a pilot instructor with California Eastern Airways. He was a partner of Midway Aviation and owner of Watertown Air Service and Beaver Dam Skyway. Mr. Janczak was one of the early developers of aviation in the Beaver Dam area. He founded Janczak Aluminum and Glass in Beaver Dam and operated it for over 35 years before selling the business in 1988. Frank also owned Janczak Land Company developer of commercial, industrial and residential properties. Frank enjoyed flying, fishing off his pier, hunting, Packer games and driving his five El Caminos. Frank was a member of the St. Katharine Drexel Parish, the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion John E. Miller Post #146 in Beaver Dam, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, EAA and a life-time member of the Beaver Dam Elks Lodge #1540. He was also a charter member of the Beaver Dam Yacht Club.

Frank is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Shirley Janczak. He is the dear father of Paul (Nancy) Janczak and the proud grandfather of David and Taylor. He is further survived by two sisters-in-law, Helen Janzcak and Jean Garczynski, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Cindy, in 1953, two brothers, John and Steven, a step brother, Mathew (Lucille) Drezewoszewski, and a sister, Regina (Hal) Woods.

The family suggests that memorials be made in Frank S. Janczak”s name to the American Lung Association or to your charity of choice.

We wish to thank all of our family and a host of friends for all of the prayers and support during Frank”s illness. Also, we want to extend a special thanks to Dr. Kuehnl and his staff and to the TLC nursing team at University Hospital in Madison and Dr. Wood, Dr. Courser and Dr. Jarjour for their loving care.

Frank made his last landing in the arms of our Lord and St. Jude and will be greatly missed by all.

Grandfather, you will be dearly missed. I pray that I can be as successful as you were in life. I did graduate Law School and have gone through some trying times. I will do anything to reflect your constitution, determination, and willpower to succeed in this life and make you proud. I wish we would have spoke more, even though I was to young to be taken seriously. I could use you guidance now as I venture forward as a professional. You will always be a template of success through hard work and determination in my life.

Dear Shirley, Paul and Famaily: You have lost a wonderful Husband, Father, Father-in-Law and Grandfather. I thought of Frank as a very special person. He was always a positive thinking person who thought dearly of all of you. I will miss my weekly visits with Frank though the years; they were the best of times and we had nice chats about the Packers, etc. God Bless all of you. Dear Shirley and Paul, Frank has always been gracious and friendly, despite feeling ill, every single time we have visited with him. I am sure that the Green Bay Packers will name a seat after him, loyal fan that he was all these years. Our hearts go out to you both during this blurry and miserable time.
