Fred D. Hughes

Fred D. Hughes, 85, of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam. A memorial gathering will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at Trinity Church United Methodist Church in Beaver Dam. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Cheri Forret officiating. Inurnment will take place at Highland Memory Garden in the Tn. of Trenton with military honors conducted by the Beaver Dam American Legion Post #146. Fred was born on April 10, 1934 in Madison, Wisconsin to David and Hazel (Moungey) Hughes. He was married to Marilyn (Loeder) Hughes. He was employed by Mercury Marine for 45 years before retiring. Fred started as a parts runner and service painter, and later becoming a service mechanic and a dealer technician instructor. He was a veteran of the US Army and served in Germany. Fred was a member of Trinity Church United Methodist in Beaver Dam where he was a past chairman and served on several committees. Fred enjoyed tinkering on any mechanical item as a hobby. He is survived by his son; Richard (Sandra) Hughes of Beaver Dam, daughter; Christine (Justin) Shananaquet of Lowell, three grandchildren; Amanda (Brandon Burnett) Shananaquet, Carrie (Kyle) Sires and Katrina (Jake) Wietzke, eight great-grandchildren; Racquel Burnett, Evan Burnett, Jaelynn Schroeder, Griffin Sires, Phoenyx Sires, Gemma-Rose Sires, Liam Wietzke and Makayla Wietzke, brothers; Earl and William (Gloria), sister-in-law; Ruth (Robert) Rollison, and niece; Betty (Bob) Stafford. He is further survived by other relatives and friends. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, son; Brian Hughes, mother of his children; Marilyn Hughes, brothers; Leo, Bernard and John, two sisters; Rosina Johnson and Leora (Clarence) Velma and nephew; Chet Hughes along with many more relatives.
