Gilbert F. Bennett, age 98, of Horicon passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Matthews of Horicon in Horicon.
A private family inurnment will take place at St. Malachy Cemetery in Horicon.
Gilbert was born the son of Ervin and Martha (Rohloff) Bennett on November 22, 1923, in Horicon. He was a graduate of Horicon High School. Gilbert was united in marriage to Elizabeth J. ‘Betty’ McNamee on April 28, 1951, in Watertown. He had been the field supervisor for the USDA for over 40 years and then went on to be the clerk for the town of Oak Grove. Gilbert also farmed in the town of Oak Grove as well. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Horicon. In his spare time, Gilbert loved to be outdoors and enjoyed helping his daughter Debra in her green house. He also loved to be in the woods on his property and loved to be on the tractor in the field or while mowing his lawn. Gilbert loved his family and cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Gilbert is survived by his children- Debra Bennett of Horicon and Andrew (Jill) Bennett of Horicon. His grandchildren- Matthew Bennett Kinnard, Jason (Rachael) Bennett, and Ryan (Carine) Bennett. His great grandchildren- Lucas, Amelia, Teddy, and Evelyn Rose. His brother and sisters in law- Mary (Don) Lyons of Mauston, Mike (Irene) McNamee of Wausau, and Anette McNamee of Madison. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty, and brothers Alvin, Clarence, and Victor.
