Gladys Allen

Gladys L. Allen, age 95, passed away peacefully from this life on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam. Visitation for Gladys will be at Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m. John R. Leiting will be the celebrant. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Beaver Dam. Gladys was born on July 7, 1922 in the Town of Calamus, Dodge County, Wisconsin to the late Albert and Lana (Kenning) Winter. She enjoyed most of her life as co-owner of the Winter family farm. She was a true grit, hard working woman and a second mother to Daryl and Cheryl. On July 18, 1966, she was united in marriage with Dewitt “Dewey” Allen. Gladys enjoyed spending time with family and friends, dining out, or just visiting and telling stories of the good old days. Her passion was caring for her many flowers in her garden and let’s not forget Gladys’ 1979 Pontiac Catalina; she loved that car! Also, she was quite the two-stepper. Gladys is survived by her sisters-in-law, Marie Winter and Corrine “Teena” Winter; step granddaughters, step great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is further survived by her beloved caregivers over the years, Cheryl Henderson (nee: Winter), Deb (Wally) Wendtlandt (nee: Winter), and Daryl (Kim) Winter. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her step daughter, Grace Koehn; and her infant sister, Amanda; and her three brothers, Edward Winter, Robert (Gloria) Winter, and Lloyd Winter.
