Gloria Valle

Gloria Valle, 89, of Brownsville, passed away peacefully at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah on Saturday, November 6, 2021.Visitation for Gloria will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 12 p.m. (noon) at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Leroy. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow with the Rev. Thomas Biersack presiding. Burial will take place at St. Andrew’s Catholic Cemetery in Leroy.Gloria was born Yvonne Gloria Kropp in Fond du Lac on July 22, 1932 to Duward and Izetta (Garb) Kropp, and was raised in Watertown. She married the love of her life, Albert Valle, on April 23, 1949, and they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in April 2019. Since her marriage she has lived the rest of her life in Nasbro, where she was now the last sole resident. Gloria was a homemaker but also, when her children were young, ran the local grocery store for the residents and workers in Nasbro. After the store closed, she worked several years at the canning factory in Brownsville until she was hired as a cook at Hope Nursing Home in Lomira. She became head cook and worked there for almost 25 years until she retired.Gloria was a very hard working, but feisty, fun-loving lady, who was not afraid to try or do anything, and was admired by all who knew her. She was an excellent cook, and her family especially enjoyed all the Italian dishes her mother-in-law taught her to make. She was very stylish and loved to dress up and had her hair and nails done regularly. She was gifted with the ability to crochet, knit and embroider, and made numerous afghans, baby afghans, and embroidered towels and pillow-cases which she gifted to her children and grandchildren through the years. Gloria suffered with many health issues, having endured over 25 different procedures and surgeries but always kept a positive attitude and never complained. She enjoyed going out to eat with the good friends she made from her former TOPS club, and she loved her cats, watching the birds on the window feeders, and watching Dr. Pol. She was also an avid Packers and Brewers fan and enjoyed watching them play, shouting at the TV when they did poorly.Gloria is survived by her five children; Daniel (Marcia) of Brownsville, Mary (Roger) Wondra of Lomira, James (Joanne) of Mountain, WI, Robert (Jolene) of Brownsville, and DuWard (Rachelle) of Pickford MI. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great- grandchild. Further survived by two sisters, Marion King and Betty Keeser, both of Watertown, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Gloria in death was her husband Albert in December 2019, her parents, her father and mother-in-law John and Stella Valle, brother and sister-in-law Bruno and Shirley Valle, sisters Virginia Powers and Kathleen Ready, brothers Donald Zillmer and Kenneth Zillmer, brothers-in-law Edward King, Jerry Keeser, Thomas Ready, and James Powers, and other family members and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Leroy.
