Haley A. Angst, age 29, of Beaver Dam, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, in Madison, Wisconsin, after a courageous five-year battle with cancer. Throughout her journey, she faced each challenge with strength and grace, making the most of every moment.

Haley Ann was born on December 12, 1995 to Timothy and Lori (Salter) Shilts. Haley lived a life rooted in Christ, being compassionate and serving others. On June 27, 2018, she married her high school sweetheart, Marshall Angst, in Door County. Together they welcomed their son, Sullivan—an immeasurable source of joy and inspiration for Haley.

From family trips to simple walks and sporting events, she turned ordinary moments into cherished adventures. Haley was always ready to go somewhere and experience something new. She also knew how to slow down, enjoy the sunshine and a good book.

Haley was an athlete during her high school and college days. She enjoyed basketball and tennis; however, she came into her own playing Lacrosse. An inaugural member of the Mukwonago High School Girls Lacrosse program she took her love and skill for the game to the collegiate level playing for the University of Dubuque Spartans. At UD she graduated with honors with a BS in Wellness & Exercise Science.

Haley had a deep passion for helping others. Her career choices reflected this calling: she served the community while working at the City of Sun Prairie Rec Department, the YMCA and later with dedication at the Beaver Dam Police Department as a clerk. Whether through her professional roles or personal acts of kindness, Haley consistently sought ways to uplift those around her.

She especially treasured time spent crafting and creating with her son. These shared moments were filled with love and creativity—expressions of the vibrant spirit that defined her life. She loved being a mom and she will be remembered as one of the best. Sully represents a wonderful blend of both of his parents. We will all be able to see Haley’s kind heart and compassion in him.

Haley’s legacy is one of resilience, love, and unwavering devotion to her family and community.

Haley will be missed by her husband, Marshall, and son, Sully of Beaver Dam; parents, Tim and Lori Shilts of Oshkosh; sisters, Sonja (Danny) Long of Appleton, Sevea (Chris) Hines of Centerville, TX, and Hannah (PJ) Senn of Beaver Dam; parents-in-law, David Angst of Coloma and Michelle Angst of St. Augustine, FL; brother-in-law, Ben Angst of Milwaukee; special nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and brother, Matthew Shilts.

There will be a memorial service at Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with Cam Giannetti officiating. A celebration of Haley’s life will continue after the service at St. Katharine Drexel Mission Hall, 408 S. Spring Street, in Beaver Dam until 3:00 p.m.

Memorials may be made in Haley Angst’s name to YMCA of Dodge County, St. Katharine Drexel School or to Beaver Dam Police Charities.

Everything I see here perfectly captures who Haley was. I was fortunate to have Haley as a student for multiple classes during her degree as well as being a part of the Wendt Character program with her at UD. She was a joy to have in class, always positive, asking questions, wanting to learn more and just be better. I am sorry to have lost her but thankful that I was able to share her path for a time.

I met Haley at the Y. Her smile was contagious. I had Sully in my 3k class and we enjoyed so much time together. I'm so sorry for your loss and I wish to give you guys strength in these times.
