Harold Robert Lau, age 81, of Reeseville, entered into eternal life on Saturday, November 25, 2006 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.
Visitation for Harold will be held at the Murray Funeral Home in Reeseville on Tuesday, November 28, 2006 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and again at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Reeseville. Rev. Lowell Holtz will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery.
Harold Robert Lau was born on September 1, 1925, the son of William Fredrick and Clara (Kuntz) Lau in the Town of Lowell, Dodge County. He was united in marriage to Shirley Jane Wolff on May 22, 1993, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Reeseville. Harold was a life long resident of Reeseville. He lived and farmed with his parents on the family farm until 1956, at which time they moved to Reeseville. Harold became a well known builder in the Dodge County area as he owned and operated Harold”s Builders for 32 years. He was a member of many Reeseville organizations. He was a firefighter on the Reeseville Fire Dept. for 32 year and served as Vice President, at one time. He held several offices as a member of the Reeseville Area Chamber of Commerce. Harold was the President and Vice President of AAL Branch 1694 for many years. He was a communicator of Lutheran Brotherhood Branch for many years. Harold was also a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Reeseville. He served on the church council and was instrumental in funding the Trinity Lutheran Church Endowment and Extension Fund and served on its committee.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Lau of Beaver Dam; his step-daughter, Patricia (Wayne) Wollin of Deerfield; his two step-sons, Michael W. (friend Paty) Wolff of Beaver Dam and Brian K. (Jill) Wolff of Madison; six step-grandchildren, Michelle Wollin of Sun Prairie, Kattie Wollin (Friend Evan) of Deerfield, Anjelica Wolff of Lodi, Brent M. Wolff of Des Plaines, IL, Nichole Wolff of Madison, and Joshua Wolff of Madison; his nephew, Rick Lau of West Bend; his two nieces, Judi (Wayne) Neuberger and Darlene (William) Goodhue both of Reeseville; his three sisters-in-law, Gladys Lau of Reeseville, Gladys Chicks of Sun Prairie and Charlotte Therrain of Wyocena; several great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews; special friends, Lawrence and Helen Bickel of Watertown, Art and Vivian Lenz of Reeseville, Melvin and Vivian Hamann of Reeseville and Marion Dorn and Joyce Cost both of Elkhorn, many other relatives and friends.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Alice Koepke; and his three brothers, Franklin, William “Wiggie” and LeRoy Lau.
Harold will be forever missed by all that knew him. Harold”s family would like to thank Hillside Manor Staff for the loving care given to Harold.
The family suggests that memorials be made in Harold”s name to the Reeseville Fire Department, Reeseville Community Center, Trinity Lutheran Cemetery Association or to the charity of one”s choice.
The Murray Funeral Home in Reeseville is serving the family for the celebration of Harold”s life.
