Henry A. Baird, 88 years of Beaver Dam passed away peacefully at home surrounded in the loving care of Sandy and Jeff Baird on Saturday, July 16, 2011.
Funeral service for Henry will be on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam with the Rev. Dr. Mark J. Molldrem officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 19th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Koepsell Funeral Home and also on Wednesday, July 20th at First Ev. Lutheran Church from 10:00 until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Beaver Dam.
Henry August was born the son of Thomas and Lena (Koehn) Baird on August 8, 1922 in the town of Beaver Dam. He was united in marriage to Ethel Fischer in 1951, she preceded him in death on Feb. 7, 1976.
As a young man, Henry did farm work for many years. Later, he had been employed in construction for Jerome Cromheecke and C.C. Linck. He also had plowed snow for many years for Dodge County and worked at Green Giant. He had been a member of the Eagles Aerie #1638 F.O.E. and was a dear friend of First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. Henry loved to raise and drive horses for shows, parades and sleigh rides. He even bought his niece Janice a pony.
Henry is survived by his brother, Thomas (Erline) Baird of Beaver Dam and his nieces and nephews: Jeff (Sandy) Baird of Beaver Dam, Deborah Baird of Milwaukee, Darlene (Dennis) Schroedl of DeForest, Fred (Diane) Wheeler of Tomahawk, Gerald (Mary) Sauer of Cambria, Judy Rueckert of Beaver Dam and Janice (Michael) Detrie of Watertown; great nieces and great nephews; his special friend Ray Garb of Beaver Dam and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ethel in 1976, sisters: Margaret Tobin and Dorothy Wheeler, brother Myron Baird, nephews: Ronald and Kenneth Wheeler and his companion of 25 years, Agnes Zumm.
The family wishes to say a special thank you to Pastor Mark Jensen and Marvin ‘Spin’ Spindler for their visits also thank you to the staff of Hillside Hospice, especially Kathy Brenner and Stephani Moldenhauer for their loving and compassionate care. Your kindness will always be remembered.
