Iona A. Olsen

Iona Adela Alvina Olsen, 97, of Beaver Dam, passed away to her Heavenly home on Monday, August 28, 2017 at the Charleston House in Beaver Dam. A visitation for Iona will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, September 1, 2017 at First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 1, 2017 with Rev. Terry Larson and Rev. Joy Mortensen-Wiebe officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens in the Tn. of Trenton. Iona was born the daughter of William and Leona (Ihde) Brandenberg on October 1, 1919 in Iron Ridge. On May 14, 1937 she was united in marriage with Armond C. Olsen at the first place they could find in Janesville. Iona was a member of First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam, where she also served in the Ladies Aid group. She was great at cooking, gardening, canning food, and sewing clothes. She touched the hearts of the staff at the Charleston House with her sense of humor. Iona didn’t let age hold her back, she learned how to swim at the age of 63, and then loved to swim laps. Her favorite meal was McDonald’s coffee and a hamburger, and she was known to be a chocoholic. She is survived by her 8 children; Dennis Olsen of Waupun, Beverly Miller of Kapalei, HI, Clifford (Sharon) Olsen of Beaver Dam, Karen (Gary) Fischer of Beaver Dam, Sharon Friese of Beaver Dam, Patricia (Patrick) Maleck of Beaver Dam, Pamela (Ken) Neuman of Beaver Dam, Thomas (Carol) Olsen of Burnett, 29 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren. She is further survived by other relatives and friends. Iona was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Armond in 1982, 2 sisters, 2 brothers, sons-in-law; Robert Friese, Mike Miller, daughter-in-law Mabel Olsen, and many loved pets. If desired, memorials may be directed to First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. The family wishes to thank Generations Hospice for their great care. “Love You More”
