James David “JD” Stanton, age 75, of Juneau, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 20, 2022 at his home.
James David was born on November 23, 1946 in Indiana and his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth (Shanks) Stanton, raised him in Richmond, Indiana. He was a 1966 graduate of Richmond Senior High School. In 1967, JD joined the United States Air Force where he served one tour in Vietnam as an Air Traffic Control Operator. He was honorably discharge in 1971. JD was united in marriage with the love of his life, Lynn A. Rapp on July 14, 1968. They made their home in Juneau, Wisconsin.
JD owned and operated JD Stanton Chimnologists, now Daizy Sweeps, for many years and later in life, he worked as a truck driver. JD really enjoyed his time over the road and was grateful for that opportunity which allowed him to see many places. He was a member of the Lowell VFW Post #9392, the Juneau American Legion Post #15, an officer for the Clyman / Lowell Fire Department and was a member of the Clyman Lions Club.
Over the years, JD spent countless hours gardening and meticulously working around his home. He liked to tinker and putz around with various wood projects and stain glass. His taste was very eclectic, which matched his personality. JD loved to take trips with Lynn, especially to Door County, and especially loved going to car shows with his ’82 Corvette, Maurice.
JD is survived by his wife, Lynn of Juneau; sons, John (Martina) Stanton, Rodney (Peggy) Stanton, and Kevin (Niki) Stanton; grandchildren, Corey and Ryan (Taylor) Stanton, Gabrielle Olsen-Stanton, and Ember and Makenna Stanton; great grandchildren, Christian, Allieanauh, and Koda; brother-in-law, Oswald “Jack” Rapp; cousins, Connie Smith and Richard Platt; his beloved cat, Finn; nieces and nephew; other relatives and friends. The family would like to thank Visiting Angels and Hillside Hospice for all the exceptional care that was given to JD.
