James J. Bauer, age 75, of Lomira, Wisconsin, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee.
A Mass of Christian Burial for James will take place on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in LeRoy with Rev. Fr. Joe Dominic and Rev. Fr. Tom Biersack presiding. Visitation for James will be held at the church on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. Graveside military honors will be conducted by the Lomira American Legion Post # 347.
James was born on July 28, 1948, in Fond du Lac to Kenneth and Alice (Krapfl) Bauer. He graduated from Mayville High School in 1966. On August 4, 1973, James was united in marriage to Renee Crist at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in LeRoy. James was a member of St. Andrew’s and of the Catholic Knights.
James proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Germany. He was a member of the Lomira American Legion Post #347. James worked for many years in the Milwaukee area as a mason. James was a hard worker and was always willing to lend a hand.
James was an avid hunter of varmint busters. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Mayville Gun Club and Horicon Marsh Bowman Club. He had a passion for motorcycles and loved going for rides.
James put his family first and would do anything for them. He lived for his grandkids and was so incredibly proud of them.
James is survived by his wife Renee; children: Stacey (Brad) Bauer, Jason “Goobs (Michelle) Bauer, Ryan (Tracy) Bauer, Richard (Renee) Bauer, and Stephanie (Erik) Gassner; 5 grandchildren: Jacob, Dylan, Vance, Kennedi, and Hayden; siblings: Kathleen “Kitty” (Steve) Klein, Diane (Mike) Vollmer, Kris (John) Butzlaff, Douglas “Duff” (Elizabeth) Bauer, Heidi (Ross) Rebernick, Mark Bauer, and Gregory (Laura) Bauer. James is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents; sister Debra; and 2 nephews Tony and Greg Vollmer.

I was shocked to hear of his passing. I worked with James for years at the Bloodcenter in west bend. He was always a happy man, chipper and talkitive and always willing to donate blood to save lives. We talked about many things and I will miss not seeing him at my site. I wish his family the best and know he will be missed.
