James W. Ackley, age 92, of Beaver Dam, died on Thursday, November 16, 2006 at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital.
Friends may call on Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at St. Katharine Drexel Church, 131 W. Maple Ave. from 10:00 AM until the time of mass. The mass of Christian burial will follow the visitation at St. Katharine Drexel Church at 11:00 AM. Fr. John Schreiter will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael”s Cemetery. Military Graveside services will be conducted by the Beaver Dam American Legion Post #146.
James William Ackley was born on December 27, 1913 in Sioux Rapids, Iowa, the son of Henry and Agnes (Burg) Ackley. He served in the US Navy from 1941 to 1946. He then married Loraine Koboski on November 22, 1951, at St. Michael”s Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. He worked at the University of Wisconsin in Madison as a building and grounds keeper for over 25 years. He was a member of the John E. Miller Post #146 of the American Legion and the VFW Post #1163 both of Beaver Dam. He was an active member of the Beaver Dam Senior Center and AARP. James was also a longtime member of the St. Katharine Drexel Parish.
Survivors include his wife, Loraine Ackley of Beaver Dam; his brother, Oscar (Verna) Ackley of Waco, TX, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents.
