As soon as I got into this position of Tutor in the old charter school building, I tried to find her because she did follow my life and adored my kiddos! We ran her newspaper to her everyday for 4 years💖after I graduated! I found her obituary😭. She would be so proud of me for finally quitting smoking, raising my kids to adulthood as well rounded adults! With no schooling for this job (her old job) I landed it! I can’t help to think she’s the reason💖. I wish I could have spoken with her one last time🥰. She saved me all those years ago and today I’m blessed to have known her sweet soul all these years💖. She even helped me through middle school💖. Lifelong person in my life. RIP Mrs Bortz🥰. You will be forever missed in our family🥰
Our heart goes out to you and your family at this time of loss. Please know that you're in our thoughts and prayers. Thinking of you and wishing you moments of peace and comfort as you remember your mom.

I worked with Jane at Church Health Services where she volunteered for us. She was such a positive person and had a love for life. I enjoyed our conversations during that time she was there. She will truly be missed by many.
In her words, I feel that she has left a little bit of herself in all of our lives that she touched. I will truly miss her.
Bob & family,
We were so shocked & saddened to hear of Jane’s passing.
She was the sweetest neighbor, always took the time to chat & ask us about our family.
You have our sincere sympathies. We pray you are all comforted by special memories of what a wonderful woman she was.

Jane was ALWAYS the sweetest, most genuine person when we would see each other, at school functions or the grocery store, but mostly at the hair salon, where we seemed to have the same schedule! Her kind heart, loving ways, and warm smile always made my day. I will miss seeing her. You have my condolences. "Perhaps the stars are just holes to Heaven." Look up in the night sky often.
I met Ms. Bortz in the late 90’s, she was my tutor at Don Smith learning Academy AKA Charter School. She truly helped me through some of the most difficult times in my life and encouraged me to be a better person. She was one of my biggest supporters, always reminding me “no one can take my education away”. Meeting Jane altered the course of my life, at a time where I felt lost. I am so thankful to have known her. She touched so many lives with her kindness, teaching, and encouragement. May her memory live on in the hearts of all she touched.
I am saddened to hear this. Jane was a wonderful person to work with and become friends with. Such a bubbly personality. I’m sure she’ll be missed by many. 🙏
Bob and family my sincere condolences. I first met Jane at the YMCA the Silver Sneakers class. She helped me teach the first group of Green Valley students in the exercise class. Jane was a wonderful lady and so upbeat. Her cheerful presence will be missed by all.
To Bob and family-
Jane and I met our spouses at the same houseparty on Madison St. We didn't see each other later. But, when we did oh the smiles in remembering!
