Janice M. Helmer, 91, of Beaver Dam passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026 at Randolph Health Services.
Janice was born on August 11, 1934 the daughter of Clarence and Martha (Parpart) Braun Sr. in Juneau, Wisconsin. On June 5, 1954, she was united in marriage with Kenneth F. Helmer in Juneau.
Janice was a faithful member of St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church, where her faith guided her throughout her life. Janice dedicated 45 years working in retail, known for her strong work ethic and her friendly nature.
In her free time, she enjoyed bowling, golfing, crocheting and solving Sudoku puzzles. Above all else, Janice deeply loved her family-her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren-who were the greatest joy of her life.
She is survived by her daughters: Debi Guenterberg (David Siers) of Arizonia and Mary (Kevin) Schreiber of Waupun; her grandchildren: Chris Straseskie, John (Rebecca) Straseskie, Dr. Ryan Straseski (Lisa Tanzi), Theresa (Peter) Essmann, Emily Rodewald, Amanda (Josh) Messerschmitt, Heidi Rodewald (Adam Christianson), Kelly (Jake) Kozikowskie, Heather (Robert) Van Caster and Derek Schreiber; many great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; her siblings: Norman (Jean) Braun, Darryl Braun, Pam Braun, Charlene Selsing and Lila Bahls. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kenneth in 2014, daughter Dianna Straseskie, grandson Sgt. Kirk Straseskie, sons-in-law: James Martin and Robert Guenterberg; siblings: Virginia Braun, Clarence Braun Jr., Charles Braun, Dwayne Bruan, Thomas Braun, Donna Jensen, Dan Braun, John Braun, Dawn Wehner and Vaughn Braun.
A visitation for Janice will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 300 West Street, Beaver Dam. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Paul Stratman officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens in the Town of Trenton, Wisconsin.
