Jean Lorraine Klawitter, age 71, died on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison. She was born on December 22, 1954, to Wilbur and Lorraine (Draheim) Schlegel in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.
After graduating from Beaver Dam High School, Jean married Dale Klawitter at First Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam on March 24, 1973. Together they were blessed with three children—Cynthia, Christy, and Aaron—whom she adored and continued to care for well into their adult lives.
Jean worked as an assembler at John Deere in Horicon for over 30 years before retiring in 2016. Bowling was always a passion of hers. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre, and taking gambling trips to various casinos. Jean loved adventure, and some of her greatest were parachuting out of a plane and zip lining in Hawaii. In her spare time, she liked to crochet and loved reading.
Jean is survived by her husband, Dale; children, Cindy Klawitter, Christy (Joe) Abbe, and Aaron Klawitter; grandchildren, Justin Abbe and Brock Bruesch; great grandson, Ronin Abbe; siblings, Paula Kohlhoff, Sandy (Mike) Diefenbach, Bill (Janice) Schlegel, and Jim (Frank) Schlegel; father-in-law, Hilbert Klawitter; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Lynn Winkie.
The memorial gathering will be at Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon.
