Jerome E. Schoepke, 88, a resident of Beaver Dam and formerly of 910 W. Burnett St., Beaver Dam passed away peacefully on Monday, June 6, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Beaver Dam.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the Koepsell Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. Mark Jensen officiating. A visitation will also be held on Saturday, June 11th from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The Beaver Dam American Legion Post 146 to meet at 10 a.m. at the funeral home to pay their respects. Inurnment will take place at Highland Memory Gardens in the township of Trenton, WI.
Jerome was born the son of Robert and Lucella (Bohnert) Schoepke on November 4, 1922 in Juneau, WI. He was married to Dorothy Strehlow on October 18, 1947 in Juneau. Jerry was a graduate of Juneau High School. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII as a paratrooper. Jerry was self-employed as a dental technician in Beaver Dam for over 40 years.
Jerry was a member of First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. He was a charter member of the Beaver Dam Lions Club, serving for over 50 years. Jerry was also a member of the John E. Miller American Legion Post 146 of Beaver Dam. His hobbies included camping, square dancing and gardening. Jerry took great pride in everything he did, whether it was keeping vehicles clean or maintaining a nice yard and home. He will be remembered for all his loving care that he gave to his wife Dorothy especially during her final years. Jerry loved his family and always loved to hear about his grandchildren and how everyone was doing. He will be missed.
Jerry is survived by his children: Steven (Linda) Schoepke of Fond du Lac, Michael (special friend, Rhonda) Schoepke of Beaver Dam, Terri (Douglas) Wood of Beaver Dam, and Lisa Reeder of Adell, WI; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; former daughter-in-law, Connie Schoepke of Beaver Dam; three sisters-in-law: Shirley Humphrey of Augusta, GA, LaVerne Uttech of Beaver Dam and Dianne Schoepke of TN; brother-in-law, Jack Voit of Beaver Dam; special niece, Amy (Randy) Maas and her family; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy in 2006, his brother, Dwayne, two sisters-in-law: Ruth Voit and Beverly Kuhaupt; and three brothers-in-law: Howard Uttech, Gordan Kuhaupt and C.W. Humprey.
