Joan P. Klug, 88, of Columbus passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at the Columbus Community Hospital.A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Olivet Congregational – UCC in Columbus from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Ruth Wagner Bradshaw officiating. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Columbus.Joan was born the daughter of Clarence and Lucille (Andler) Westphal on February 17, 1930 on her family’s farm in Columbus. She was a graduate of Columbus High School and attended Milwaukee Beauty School. On June 14, 1952, she was united in marriage to LaVern Klug at Olivet Congregational – UCC in Columbus.Joan operated a hair salon in Reeseville until she had her children. After raising her family, she continued her career as a beautician and did hair for many shut-ins. She was a lifelong member of Olivet Congregational United Church of Christ. Joan enjoyed babysitting and taking care of children. She had volunteered for meals on wheels. She also enjoyed knitting.Joan is survived by her children: Keith Klug of Lamar, MO, Dean Klug of Marshall, Betty Klug of Columbus and Lori (Russell) Livingston of Beaver Dam; two grandchildren: Jonathan Klug and Katy Livingston; a great grandchild on the way; and her sister-in-law Marjorie Westphal of Fall River. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents: her husband LaVern; sister, Donna Westphal, brother, Roger Westphal; and two daughters in infancy.The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Beaver Dam Dialysis Center and Trosten Haus in Beaver Dam for the care and support they provided and the many wonderful friendships she made.
