Dear Family - Thank you for letting me know about Jack. He was a very special man - so willing, kind and helpful. We worked together at the rummage sale for so many years, as did my mother also. I visiting both Jack and Mickey in their Wilmette home often. I have enjoyed his Christmas letters for years - reading about the whole family. I know he will be sorely missed, but his goodness will live on in all your hearts. Sincerely, Beth

We grew up with Jack on Central Avenue and will always remember Jack and Mickie as the greatest neighbors we could ever have. We know that Jack and Mickie are together again and are probably "hanging out" in heaven with our mother and father, Lois and Erwin Heidbrink. We send our love and sympathy to those who will miss Jack. We remind them that Jack was one of the best human beings on earth. He will be a standout "angel" in heaven.

Dear Patty, Susie, and Nancy, My most treasured childhood memories are the times we spent summer holidays with your family in Wilmette. The first visit was in 1961. I was 5 years old and I thought your father and uncle Butch were Jack and Bobby Kennedy. I send you my most sincere and deepest sympathies. Our parents are now together again. love, jill

I hope this is not too late to express my deep feelings for a "good-ol" buddy from the days of the "219th." Jack and I spent much time together going down and up the hill (in lieu of "over"} between Garrett Mountain and Paterson. Jack''s approximately three years'' seniority to myself probably accounts for his sincerity in trying to keep his many friends from that period of his military career "in touch" with each other. I didn''t catch on to his enthusiasm ''til much later in life. A salute to the guy who valued friends more than himself.
I was so sorry to hear of Jack''s death. He was a wonderful man and a good brother to my former husband Bud Trainor, who died twelve years ago this month. Bud and I so enjoyed a visit to Jack and family a short while before Bud died. Please convey my condolences to family members who remember me and let them know that they are in my thoughts and prayers at this time. God is great in His mercy and he took Jack peacefully in his sleep. I am sorry not to be with you on June 30th, but I will be with you in spirit. love to all. Marilyn.

Dear Suzy We are so sorry for your loss and send our deepest sympathy to you and your family. Your father was an inspiration to all of us through his life and letters. Christmas just won''t be the same for us without a letter from Mr. Trainor--all of us looked forward to "hearing" the family update every year; almost like waiting for the next Harry Potter book, only better. He was a wonderful writer and his ability to express himself so completely was almost unbelievable. He had a gift--to make you love what he loved--that most professional writers would die for. While we were not acquainted with most of those he wrote about, Mr. Trainor made us feel as if we know all of you and love everyone almost as much as he did. Death is always a time of mixed emotions when someone we care for is taken from us--we are sad to be without him but also happy that he is in the best of all possible worlds with Mickie. If we could only see them now enjoying each other again, our own wishes for their presence here would be wiped away. But one day, the best family reunion of all will take place. We can look forward to that. Till then, our love and prayers - The Taylors
We want to extend our deepest sympathy to all of the Trainor Family. I feel as if you are my family too. Jack had a special place in Ruthann''s heart. She always spoke so highly of him. I always enjoyed Jack''s Christmas letters. He was truly the foundation of the family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Donna and Eric

We were so very sorry to hear about the recent passing of your dad. One of our most treasured memories of Jack happened at Turtle Lake quite a few years ago. My parents, Fran & Ruth, used to own the cabin next door, and I know that they shared a wonderful friendship. My husband & I bought that cabin from my parents and were also neighbors with Mickie & Jack for a few years. Dad would never allow us to have a bonfire by the beach, and we always had to burn the leaves next to the road. The very first year that we owned the cabin, we decided that we knew better, so we raked the leaves DOWNHILL and decided to have a bonfire on the beach. We had difficulty getting the fire to start, so Larry found some "old gas" and poured it onto the leaves. When he ignited it, a plume of fire shot into the air and exploded! I''m quite sure that anyone traveling on the highway on the other side of the lake (some 3 miles away or so) could see the explosion! After much commotion, we were able to contain the fire, but not after burning the edges of the pine trees that were planted between the two properties. Although Mickie & Jack weren''t at the cabin during that time, I had to call them a few days later from home, utterly embarassed by our stupidity, to tell them what had happened to their trees. And wouldn''t you know it, the very next time we came up to the cabin, Jack had built a fire ring from rocks near the beach. He also cleared away any brush or tree limbs AND he had cut some tree stumps for stools to sit upon. What a guy! He never said a word to Larry about it, but I''ll never forget how relieved we felt. Jack was a quiet, gentle, and patient man, with a wonderful sense of humor. He & Mickie made our years at Turtle Lake some of the best we''ve ever come to enjoy and we will never forget either one of them. Our deepest sympathy to the entire family. We will pray that God will hold all of you close to his heart during the difficult and painful days ahead. God bless Jack and Mickie, and God Bless all of you. Sincerely, Larry & Judy Brandt Prior Lake, Minnesota
