Joseph Diesler Jr., 79 year of Beaver Dam passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2011 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison.
Funeral services for Joe will be on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at NOON at First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam with the Rev. Dr. Mark J. Molldrem officiating. Visitation will also be on Wednesday, December 28th from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at NOON at First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. The Beaver Dam American Legion Post # 146 to meet at 11:15 a.m. at First Ev. Lutheran Church to pay their respects. Military Honors will be conducted by the Beaver Dam American Legion Post #146. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Highland Memory Garden in the township of Trenton, Wisconsin.
Joseph was born on May 2, 1932 in Beaver Dam the son of Joseph J. and Mildred I. (Laabs) Diesler Sr. He was united in marriage to Marilyn A. Boeder on October 9, 1954 in Beaver Dam.
Joe was a graduate of Beaver Dam High School in 1954 through the Air Force GED. Joe’s high school class was 1951. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in August of 1950. He proudly served his country during the Korean War for 4 years.
Joe worked for Clarence J. Keller Insurance Agency from 1954 – 1960. Joe then went to work for the Department of the Army from 1960 – 1987. He served in Milwaukee, West Bend, and Madison at Truax Field. He served in the Military 33 years, retiring in 1987 as 1st Sgt. of the 147th Avn. Co.
Joe was a member of First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. He was also a member of the Beaver Dam American Legion Post #146 and the 40/8. He was a lifetime member of the DAV and of the Enlisted Association, and a member of the Red Arrow Division Club.
Joe is survived by his wife of 57 years Marilyn, his son Daniel (Becky) Diesler of Mukwonago; three grandchildren: Jacob Diesler, Eric Bilke and Beth Ramos; three great grandchildren and his son -in-law David Bilke of St. Germain. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Sherryl.
