Joyce A. Holden, 60 of Juneau, Wisconsin passed away unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, May 30, 2024.
Joyce was born on February 10, 1964 the daughter of Peter A. and Gertrude (Kooistra) Schaalma in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. On December 12, 2009, she was united in marriage with Jeffrey L. Holden at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Juneau, Wisconsin.
Joyce was employed at Clearview Nursing Home in Juneau and had worked there for over 30 years in the Dietary Department. Joyce was a skilled baker, enjoyed trying new recipes; and made “the best potato salad”. She loved gardening, stand up paddle boarding and enjoyed crocheting blankets for family members. Joyce and Jeff enjoyed going on motorcycle trips and canoeing in Eagle River. Joyce dearly loved her dogs and they truly were her faithful companions.
Joyce will be deeply missed by her husband Jeff; son Alex Holden and daughter Amanda Holden; grandchildren: Rylie and Alexander Levi; brothers: Dave (Linda) Schaalma, Len (Renee) Schaalma, Rob Schaalma, Steve (Judy) Schaalma, Ken (Kris) Schaalma and Gary (Jan) Schaalma; her sister Pam (Russell) Tallmann; sisters-in-law: Barb Schaalma, Gianna (Dean) Showers and Rae Marie (Pat) Holden. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers: Alfred Schaalma and Chuck Schaalma daughter Angela Marie Holden and other relatives and friends.
A memorial gathering for Joyce will be held on Monday, June 10th from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. A Celebration of Life will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. David Brandt officiating. Inurnment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Joyce’s name may be directed to the family.
My heart broke when I learned of Joyce's death and I'm so very sorry,many hugs and prayers to the family and friends. She was one of a kind and will be missed by anyone who knew her!
