Joyce L. Tennessen

Joyce L. Tennessen, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Marvin’s Manor in Horicon.A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Parish in Horicon with the Rev. Fr. Gerald Brittain presiding. A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. at the church. Inurnment will take place at St. Malachy Cemetery in Horicon.Joyce was born the daughter of Aloysius and Hildegard (Noll) Shulteis in Milwaukee on March 13, 1932. She was united in marriage to Anthony ‘Tony’ Tennessen on September 4, 1954 in Menomonee Falls. Joyce received her Bachelors in Nursing and worked as a registered nurse for several years at Misericordia Hospital before starting her family. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Horicon. In her spare time, Joyce enjoyed playing cards and cribbage and especially Skipbo with her family. She liked to go fishing with her husband Tony. Joyce also had a love of animals. She will be fondly remembered for her quick wit and sense of humor all the way to the end.Joyce is survived by her husband- Anthony ‘Tony’ of Horicon. Her children- Mark (Lisa) Tennessen of Beaver Dam, Mike Tennessen of Mayville, and Teresa (Leander) Schuett of Horicon. Her sisters- Doris Arndorfer of Beaver Dam and Arline Immerfall of Beaver Dam. Her grandchildren- Alec Tennessen, Tara (Marc) Kent, Nicholas Tennessen, Beth Tennessen, Anthony Schuett, and Johnathon Schuett. Her great granddaughters- Frances and Lydia. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson David, sisters Ruth Sawjeka and LaVerne Wilkum, and her brother James Schulteis.Special thanks to the staff of Marvin’s Manor in Horicon, Hillside Hospice, Jennifer Fink, and Charlotte Pagel for all of their care and support shown to Joyce and her family.In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Hillside Hospice in Beaver Dam.
