Karen J. Schoenwetter, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2025, at Clearview Nursing Home in Juneau, Wisconsin.
Karen was born on July 16, 1942, in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, to Harold and Erna (Weinheimer) Maas. She lived a life marked by love, devotion, and unwavering support for her family. She graduated from Juneau High School in 1961, embarking on a journey that led her to marry her high school sweetheart, Roger L. Schoenwetter, on July 15, 1961. Together, they created a nurturing environment for their children. Throughout her life, Karen was dedicated to her community and her profession. After taking CNA classes, she began her career at Clearview Nursing Home in Juneau, where she worked diligently for 30 years, first as a certified nursing assistant and later in housekeeping. Her commitment to her work and the people she cared for reflected her gentle spirit and nurturing nature. She was an avid reader with a love for the outdoors. Karen enjoyed camping and cherished the moments spent with her family under the stars. She was a keen supporter of Wisconsin sports teams, passionately following the Brewers, Packers, and Badgers, and found joy in watching NASCAR races. Her active involvement in 4-H for eight years and her membership of the Juneau Snow Marauders Snowmobile Club showcased her love for community and the outdoors. Above all, Karen’s heart belonged to her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the centers of her universe, and she found her greatest joy in their achievements and milestones. Her nurturing spirit and loving presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Karen’s legacy lives on through her cherished children, Terri (Scott) Chyko of Nekoosa, Tami (Russell) Nampel of Juneau, and Jeff (Lisa) Schoenwetter of Juneau; grandchildren, Stephanie (Dan) Edgette, Kristofer (Samantha) Chyko, Benjamin (Kayla) Schoenwetter, and Brittany (Brandon) Hack and Alex Nampel; great grandchildren, Brianna and Elsie Edgette, Easton and Colton Chyko and Brady Hack; brothers and sister, Dick Maas, James (Judy) Maas, and Janice (Gerald) Schoppe; beloved dog, Sophie; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Karen was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and infant sister, Sandra.
The visitation will be at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church in Horicon on Saturday, December 6, 2025 from 9:30 until 10:50 a.m. The funeral service will follow at the church on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Daniel Seehafer officiating. Burial will be at Juneau City Cemetery.
