Laurie M. Schmidt

Laurie M. Schmidt, age 66, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 16, 2024 at her home in Beaver Dam.

Laurie was born October 20, 1957 in Beaver Dam to Robert and Alyce Schoenwetter. She attended school in Beaver Dam and graduated from Beaver Dam High School. Laurie then received her degree in accounting from Carroll College.

Laurie was a selfless friend, mother, and wife. Her children were the light of her life and she did a wonderful job raising them with her husband Robert Schmidt. Laurie and family loved going on vacation to Kangaroo Lake in Door County with Laurie’s parents. The family would go fishing, play miniature golf, go-karting, and enjoy each other’s company. The family also loved seeing the goats on the roof at Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant.

Laurie met Bill W and Dr. Bob and they became a very important part of her life. Laurie’s strength and perseverance in this relationship was an inspiration and comfort to her family and words cannot express how proud or her we were for this.

Laurie loved going to live music shows with her friends; especially ‘Outlaw Country’ artists like Ward Davis.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Robert and Alyce, her brother, Randall Schoenwetter and her special friend, Barb Reilley. Laurie is survived by her husband, Robert and sons, Kevin (Steph) and Jeremy as well as her brother and sister, Pam Theobald, and Brian Schoenwetter as well as friends Sue Hilbert and Mary G.

The family would like to extend thanks to the staff at Common Heart for their care and help in this difficult time.

The family will hold a visitation and service at Grace Presbyterian Church in Beaver Dam with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 12 p.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024.
