Lorence A. Schuster

Lorence A. “Larry” Schuster, 92, of Beaver Dam, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at his home. A funeral service for Lorence will be held on Saturday, July 30th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 300 West Street, Beaver Dam with the Rev. Philip Heyer officiating. A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 30th from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. also at the church. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens in the township of Trenton. Graveside military honors will be provided by the Marine Corps League Detachment 359. His final resting place is Heaven. Lorence was born on May 9, 1924 in Rolling Prairie, Wisconsin and was the son of Vincent and Anna (Backhaus) Schuster. He was a graduate of Fox Lake High School. After serving in the U.S. Marine Corp’s 1st Division in the South Pacific during WWII, he was employed by Wisconsin Bell System for 36 years as a cable splicer. He married Muriel A. Schmidt on September 5, 1947 and they made their home in Beaver Dam. Lorence was a faithful member of St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. Lorence enjoyed spending time with family and friends, helping others, wood working, camping and traveling in the United States, boating and bowling. He was a member of the Marine Corp. League, Beaver Dam VFW, Beaver Dam American Legion, and the AMVETS. Lorence is survived by his daughter-in-law Karen Sitton (Wallace “Bud”) of Round Lake Beach, IL; his daughter Mary Jo Hayes (Arthur) of Swansboro, NC; his son David C. Schuster (Lynn) of Beaver Dam, his daughter Amy L. Norenberg (Merlin) of Deming, NM; and his son Tobin J. Schuster (Susan) of Menomonee Falls, WI; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; his brother Raymond Schuster of Kansas City, MO; his sister Carol Able (Bill) of Beaver Dam; a close friend Grace Frank-Ehlers of Burnett; other relatives and friends. Lorence is preceded in death by his wife Muriel A. Schuster, his son Steven L. Schuster, his granddaughter Gwen M. Schuster, his great grandson Kyle Norenberg, his brothers James L. Schuster and Fredric V. Schuster, and his sister Dorthea A. Hoeft. Memorials may be directed to St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church Stain Glass Window Fund, or to the Badger Honor Flight.
