Lyle D. Hansen

Lyle D. Hansen, age 85, of Marshall passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018 at Rainbow Hospice in Johnson Creek.Lyle was born the son of Theodore and Ella (Dunn) Hansen on August 14, 1932 in Madison, WI. He was married to Shirley P. Zimmerman on November 29, 1952 in Sun Prairie, WI. Lyle was employed with Madison-Kipp Corp. until his retirement. Lyle enjoyed helping his wife, Shirley with her store, Hansen’s Gifts in Marshall. They also enjoyed going to flea markets and collecting antiques. Lyle loved to help out on his brother, Roger’s farm whether it was building, fixing, or woodworking. He enjoyed spending time “up north” pontooning and waiting to catch that big fish. He was a pet lover and he and Shirley had many special pets throughout their lives. Family was very important to Lyle and could be seen by him and Shirley helping raise 27 foster children. Lyle is survived by his children: Randy Hansen of Marshall, Wendy (Mark) Sillman of Columbus, Shelly (Mark) Netzer of Lake Mills, and Ronda (James) Cole of Waterloo; his foster son, Rod (Barb) Holden of McFarland; his grandchildren: Bradley (special friend Jenni McKay) Sillman, Lindsey (Jordan) Dennison, Whitney (fiancé Matthew McKay) Sillman, Tyler (Michelle) Netzer, Nakia (fiancé Jeffrey Fuller) Netzer, Austin Cole, and Dawson Cole; his great grandchildren: Alexis and Leah; his sister, Cleo (Gary) Smith of TX; a special sister-in-law, Beverly Hellenbrand of Marshall; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley in 2016; his foster son, LeRoy “Butch” Weisensel; his sister, Irene Meuer; and his brothers: Roger, Dean, and Keith.A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 13 at the Koepsell-Zeidler Funeral Home in Columbus from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Edwin Vargas will officiate. Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Columbus. Special thanks to UW Hospital, LVAD Heart Team for giving Lyle and his family and extra 5 and a half years together… for this we are forever grateful. Also, special thanks to the staff at Rainbow Hospice in Johnson Creek for the care and support shown to Lyle and his family during his final days.
